Steam System Surveys, excluding Win 7 users.
Steam is artificially skewing their survey results by EXCLUSING Windows 7 systems from their surveys, This collected 'proof'on their data collection involving their system surveys to show Windows 7 users have steadily declined is fraudulent data.

I run a dual boot system, so i have both Windows 7 and Windows 10 installed and swap depending on which is needed. For the past few days on my Windows 10 build I have gotten requests from steam to do a hardware survey, i have ignored them. I get them every time I start steam on Windows 10.

I swap to my Windows 7 build and the survey does NOT pop up. I swap back to Windows 10, and BAM survey pops up. I swap back to Windows 7, survey NOT popping up. See the pattern?

Valve really has stooped low to falsify data on their own system surveys to support their kill switch for Windows 7 users to combat the user push back against it.

Oh and if this post is somehow *pruned* it will be spread to other social media outlets.

The hardware survey happens periodically to an account with month long gaps between.
You just got lucky.
By any chance did you see any increase in the count of any other OS when you saw the Win7 numbers decrease? Perhaps Win7 users are just leaving like they said they would? Are they going Linux? WIn10? Mac? Something else?

Your "test" is hardly proof of this being a widespread exclusion.

A sample size of 1 proves nothing....

So you're argument is they're using false data to justify dropping support? Even though the number using it has never been their justification for dropping it. That 'stat' has been trotted out by users not Valve.

Ok, and I suppose sites that track data of operating systems are falsifying it as well?
https://gs.statcounter.com/os-version-market-share/windows/desktop/worldwide

3% global usage of all browsers online and on Windows 7. I'd say 1% for Steam is fairly accurate since a smaller ecosystem.

with a name like that, i expect you to use linux

At the end of the day, OP, it doesn't matter. Every single Steam user can be using Windows 7. That still doesn't change the facts:

Microsoft doesn't support Windows 7.
Steam will not support Windows 7 beginning January 1, 2024.
That barely 3% of the world uses Windows 7.
Windows 7 time has come and gone as the tech industry is currently ending support for Windows 7.

It doesn't matter how much anyone loves Windows 7. It's over. The fat lady has sung her song. If anyone wants to use Steam in 2024 and beyond, it will not be on Windows 7.

Got any proof?

So your assumption is if you get the survey than every system you use is surveyed? Well what's the basis for that assumption? Assuming malice and fraud may not be the slam dunk argument you think.

Well you've made some bad assumptions. Also, if Valve were excluding Windows 7 machines, why are there any Windows 7 results? Like it or not Windows 7 users make up an nigh insignificant minority and there isn't a reason for Valve to skew the results anyway. They're ending support come January 2024 regardless. It doesn't matter if it's 0.5% or 1%, trying to skew the results won't skew the reality either way, it would be pointless. So you need some sort of fantasy to justify it and you've got nothing substantial there.

Valve made their announcement at the beginning of the year and that wasn't conditional on usage levels hitting a certain mark. So generating a conspiracy to make it seem otherwise because you assume if you get the survey all your devices would be survey'd is adorable and naive.

-> OS Version

Steam has just excluded Windows 7 "32-bit" users only.
64-bit users are still collected.

W7 32-bit users had been on something by 0.06% only..
64-bit users between 1 and 1.15 % ..

Not even ~1.2%, if 32- and 64-bit calculated together.

A website can know what os you use. They dont need you to do a survey.

It is a difference if stats are "globally" collected, or just a part as a group as Steam. Are 2 different values and stats .. However, Steam survey is a great "indicator" of what the World's mainstream uses..

Participation in the survey is randomly assigned. All your test showed, OP, is that it is indeed random.
IFIYGD Nov 5, 2023 @ 12:05pm
OMG. Valve is discriminating against me, personally!
No survey on any of my machines!
Windows 7 machine- no survey!
Ubuntu 22.04 machine- no survey!
Windows 10 machine- no survey!
New Windows 11 machine- no survey!
All 4 machines have Steam Client installed! But *NONE* of them are getting the survey!

See? That sample size of 1 person on 4 different machines *PROVES* that Valve is falsifying data by not including me at all!
