Warning from Steam
It won't launch any game. It says that it can't sync with Steam Cloud and if I play then all progress will be lost forever.
What should I do? Please help. Thanks. :steamsad:
This is the exact message:
! Unable to synch
Warning - Steam was unable to sync your saves with the Steam cloud.
If you play now, you may not have previous game progress and you may permanently lose it.

I somehow doubt that it really said "all progress will be lost forever". If you can connect to the cloud saves again you will have the choice which one to keep if they are different (due to you continuing to play, for example).

I've had the little indicator saying it's not synced with the Steam cloud, but once I launch the game it syncs up fine.

Maybe it's a different issue, but it seems very unlikely that you would actually lose all progress. More likely whatever data is on the cloud will be overwritten by your current saves.

In your case, since you've said you're using Steam offline that's probably why it's not synced with the cloud.

But yeah it shouldn't affect any progress on the local machine, it's just not matching the cloud data.

I could have been mistaken with my analysis:) I posted the exact message in my comment just now. Thank you for the response! I wish myself luck:)

It says 'permamently' actually - but I didn't read between the lines :) I posted the exact message in my comment a few min ago. I shall go ahead and see what happens. Thank you very much for your response! Appreciate it.

That notification is overly dramatic. You can just play. It will save your files locally on your device, and it will upload your locally saved files to Valve's servers whenever your internet works again.

H. Thanks for the response. I just played a short game, which I didn't need any progress to be saved. It played fine, but didn't save any progress when I quit the game. Gave a tiny error message, (I didn't need it to save, anyway). Also, I have never played offline before. (I didn't know I could ! )It's always online:) So I guess I won't be able to play any longer games for now!
Hope the fix it soon.

Okay! so to fix this from popping up again and load every save/save future plays, this is what you need to do: https://www.lifewire.com/fix-steam-cloud-error-6746165#:~:text=The%20most%20common%20cause%20of%20this%20problem%20is%20that%20synchronization,for%20apps%20that%20support%20it.

step 4 (for step 4, turn syncing off and back on if it says "on"), 5, and 6 solved the pop up for me, and i didn't have to click "Continue" to play. once you are done these 3 steps, you want to run the game through steam, not on your desktop. Ubisoft should start running and updating itself, will give the "allow to make changes on this device" popup, so select yes, and the game should proceed to load. I had the popup occur 3 times, so I have a feeling it may have been a ubisoft issue, not steam.
