Valve created its own OS and made gaming on Linux a real thing thanks to Proton.
You still can switch to Linux for free, stop making up issues where there's none or your own fault.
Remember, Chromium is making the change that makes everything stop working with Win 7. Valve/Steam is just one of the companies using that middleware.
And, if your hardware is so old that it literally *can't* upgrade to Win 10/11? It's *been* used "to the full extent of it's lifetime."
(as it is, game system requirements going higher and higher is a bigger push for people to upgrade hardware and throw away the old.)
Do you complain this much in real life?
I'd counter your point by saying Valve is just a victim, forced by both Microsoft and Google dropping support for both their OS and embedded framework... But we all know e-waste isn't the point of this thread.
but e waste is not good... i take my old e waste to a recycle centre...
can you windows 7 people do that if you have to throw away your old computers..
throwing your old computer out the window onto the street is not good for the environment..
Valve's accountants
Otherwise you might have had a point.
There is NO REASON why they cannot make an archive vesrion of win7 steam instead of bricking their customers.
No amount of white knighting will change the fact
The software for accessing the libraries still works.
There is a reason.
Those refusing to update aren't worth the work and cost. This thread is proving that quite well.
The reason is, they are a terrible anti-consumer company.
