Searching is key! Before you post a question, use the forum search feature to determine whether your topic has already been covered
Moderators can lock threads at their discretion. This is especially true if it is a redundant thread as you have already stated that this was indeed the case.
Okay so If I want make a thread about a subject I should type descriptive words into the search. If a hundred hits come up, you expect me to read all of them to see if my point has been mentioned, already approached or settled?
I am sorry but most people don't have that kind of time.
The thing is steam has already confirmed that they are unwilling to delete prior posts because they want the information to remain available. That being said post retaining any of those keywords used will pop up during that search. So any post with the searched word(s) will come up regardless of how old those posts are. Some with specific words would pop up threads which can date back to when steam was first released.
Just so you know the thread in question was just created yesterday. It is not like a week had even gone by. I mean a thread should be open for at least a week or some period of time before it is considered for closing.
No actually, they can close them whenever they like. There is no timeline.
I never said there was a timeline, I just stated there should be. It's called a suggestion not a falsified point.
Furthermore, as I told you above, searching before making threads is a request. That doesn't mean to go ahead and make a thread just because you can't be bothered to search first.
You just can't leave things alone can you? you read what you want to read and then you falsify your statements towards me. At no point did I say or state that it was wrong. you misinterpreted the the who entirety of the thread. Yes I was a little sarcastic and yes I pointed out that I didn't break any of the guide lines and those tactics were implemented to make a point. The first paragraph was a strategic message.
The second paragraph was to point out that there was more to discuss other than the main point as conversations 90% of the time evolve to a different but related topic.
There are plenty of topic or threads out there that the point is made and the message leads to an other topic that is related to the original that stay open for weeks or months.
The thread in particular that I am discussing didn't even see 24 hours.
The second message was to state that I didn't have the time to search all the threads that pop up on a preliminary search. But you could probably figure out what that means. Steam is a game client and as such I do want to get a message through but I don't want to spend the majority of time researching and reading. Its not a research client its primarily a game client. that means that when I do use it I want to primarily play a game.
I also used that second message to make a suggestion which again you misinterpreted. Then when I pointed that out you reverted back to your main argument in which I do not wish to go over again.
You made your point the first time. I don't need you to repeat it. Doing so only conveys the message that you are losing your composure and letting your anger get the best of you.
You have no locked topics.
If it's this https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/10/3878221099918190761/ it's not locked, still open for postings.
It was that thread. but I tried to comment on it earlier and it wouldn't allow me to comment on it. then I restarted my system and still wouldn't allow me to comment on it. I received a message that another comment was added to the thread and now it is allowing me to comment on it again.
That makes the whole situation suspicious. Now this is just speculation but either I was blocked specifically and when I made a post about it I was unblocked or the thread was closed and reopened.
