Just use the parts of Steam that fit you. I only use the Steam client for the gaming part, for example. When bored or things are slow (at work and such) I tend to default to visiting the community part (in a browser or on my phone), but I'm slowly moving away from that again.

Set up the client to launch in library view, forget all the other sections do exist.

I've been doing nice elluding most forms of online gaming for longer than a decade. And the few I did/still play I do in controlled enviroments, far from most of the toxicity of online gaming.

I won't say it's a road without some sacrifices though.
