Mouse button issues
I got a problem with my left mouse button. Sometimes it will either not register clicks or even double click if I press it softly or casually (even though the button still makes the clicking noise).

However, when I press the button with "enough" strength, it always works consistently and with no issues.
Basically, the button became less sensitive over time.

Sometimes after pressing the button harder for a few minutes makes it more sensitive again, but it usually will go back to needing more force after a few more minutes. And after a few hours of not using it, it will become very stiff again.

What could be the issue?

Generally microswitches like that are good for millions of clicks, like if you sat for 24 hrs a day for a year you wouldnt wear them out, but of course they can fail.

My experience is that what usually happens is that the nub on the back of the button will wear down first and cause what you are describing.

Take it apart and check. if its worn, a little bit of epoxy can build it back up again. Be sure to sand well first or the epoxy might pop off.

On the other hand, "mices" are pretty cheap if youre not buying a silly "gaming" mouse.

Well, sometimes things break/go bust earlier than expected.

Get a new mouse & be done with it.

Sounds like a worn out mouse, yeah. Sometimes the switches are made badly, so they wear out quicker.

You can try to fix it yourself as AmsterdamHeavy describes, or just get a new mouse.
