Yeah well im completely fine with AMD bought a Hellhound 7900 XTX a few months ago, on my way to my newest AMD high end gear.

Just remember there’s no Windows 7 drivers for any of that so you’ll have to go all-in on Linux ;)

Since this is a neverending cycle with windows, on long term there are no other options

It’s not like Linux doesn’t make you periodically update your entire distro…

In fact, the cycles are considerably shorter than on Windows, I don’t think any Linux distro, not even Debian Stale, gives you anywhere near the 14 years you’ve managed to wring out of Windows 7…

yes, that shouldn't be a problem. however, the person would then have to reckon with immense costs, of which salaries for developers are only a fraction. That would be such high costs just to stay up to date with outdated software that no company would pay of its own accord (and you won't get developers etc. for it voluntarily either haha).

the only reason valve had been doing that is because of gabe he is like us a human being that understands what we go through they only stoped it because windows 7 was under 1%

you don't want to be Using PopOS, you want either SteamOS (HoloISO) or something that comes with KDE Plasma

steamOS isn't designed for desktop PCs. if someone wants KDE looks it's easy to install on every distro, you don't have to use unsupported steam OS for that. no one prevents you from having few DEs installed and you can pick which one you use at login screen.
do you not understand how SteamOS works? its perfectly capable of booting into KDE just fine like a normal desktop OS. you just have to drop into a CLI and fix up a text file containing the string that tells it to boot gamescope instead of KDE. its a simple one time fix that makes no damages to the system since the FS is immutable and you cannot break it

it is crap but it doesn't warrant being on a dead and completely unsecured OS

I mean, I'll always love Windows 7 but its not secure and nothing really supports it anymore. I'm fine with using Windows 10 as long as I get to actually use all my programs lmao. Just update and deal with it.

Yes it does...

If in 2025 i'm forced to upgrade to win 11/12 as these win 7 are being forced i think i'm done with PCs, i am going to buy a PS5 instead and move over there, a sub is better than dealing with Win 11/12.

And its laughable to say Win 10 is a secured OS

thats because that is FACT you know it doesn't take large amount of research to see that 10 is more secure then 7 it always has been

How secure someone's system is depends on the user, not the OS. Those of us in favor of 7 are more concerned about securing our systems from Microsoft than any virus. And it's a FACT that Microsoft has only gotten more intrusive in the the user experience with newer versions of Windows.

do you know how intrusive the games you download are...
if your read some of these eula you are sending your data everywhere
all around the world depending on where and who the game is made by
and thats if you can work out who the game is really made by... LOL

microsoft seems like nice and cosy data collection in comparison

Let me ask you a question to counter that…

Is your data secure from Steam? Is your data secure from Meta/X? Is your data secure from Amazon?

Reason I bring this up is the devices, sites and clicks you do is always being tracked in some capacity. Why would protecting your data from Microsoft be any different than Steam in this regard?

I’m genuinely curious…

I was referring to win 7. If one of the advocates of Win 7 were to hypothetically pay for the costs of further development and make it so financially palatable to MS that they couldn't refuse. Then updates would certainly not be a problem. But the issue is that the users would not pay 1 cent for further development. Instead, they whine because there are no free updates for life.
If Win 7 continued to be supplied with updates, Steam would also be supported in the future. Either way, it's ridiculous that people think they have to complain to Valve instead of MS.
