Sounds like you'd enjoy Linux, open-source, user freedom, and works with older games (through steam proton compatibility layer) where Windows 10 doesn't support them.
Cheapshark can help you find deals, and using Linux allows you a lot more control over your computer. Steam is supported, thanks to Valve, the changes are very minimal to the interface through upgrades, and performance consistently improves.
Linux is used on the steamdeck and is what Valve is asking game developers to target for compatibility, which is incredible. This is beneficial for all steam users and helps support an open platform that a lot more computers can support. It is also more secure, and there are zero arbihrary upgrade barriers.
Pop_os! developed by System76 computer designer gets sooner updates for tte software used by games and gpu, compared to standard Ubuntu. If you've never used Linux before, download Virtualbox, pop_os! installer file, and add ut to Virtualbox virtual optical drive (has a disc icon). You don't even need to install it, it can run directly in memory from the cd file.
ya i have noticed that as well, along with others making troll threads to draw in any win 7 drama.
If I can do it, you guys can too.
A few examples:
Extra steps to reach the control panel.
Can't easily make a shortcut on the desktop.
No control over when updates are installed.
Insists that you have a Microsoft account.
Encrypts your HDD with BitLocker without telling you.
Doing just about anything in those OSs is made harder. The issue is that Microsoft keeps making their products worse with each new version. the issue is that switching to a non-MS OS still entails learning a new way of doing things that is even more unfamiliar. Thus the most appealing option is to stick with what, at present, still works.
Seeing the W7 madness absolutely reminded me of that meme from Kill of the hill.
And if you've been PC gaming since DOS, this should be a cake walk for you. I know it is for me.
Uhh, wut? Right click and drag works the same as it always has and I'm pretty sure you can right click -> new the same as always too...
This was changed because idiots kept disabling them, getting their systems owned and then blaming MS for their own stupidity.
No one liked Vista until MS repackaged it as Windows 7 ;)
