Do free games count?

So on one’s profile you can see how many games they have. Well I have many games and I’m trying to get to 1k games badge on my account. However whenever I add a free game to my library it doesn’t seem to count towards my total off my account. However I was curious of that would change if money was spent on the game or if there was some other trigger to count it? I genuinely have no idea here. From what I can tell they don’t count but let’s see if we can figure this one out together. Thanks everyone and I’m looking forward to your engagement.

There are many games that don't count towards the badge regardless if you "paid" for them or not.

1. Nearly all Free2Play games don't count. Unless you paid to make it a premium license. This is different than the free for a limited time games.

Although I am laughing a bit because the last link you tied me too is to the same user that reported me for literally what I see them doing right there then got me banned for it only to have steam support respond to me after contacting them to tell me that whoever banned me for that was overreacting and that what I did was not a problem and they un-banned me then and there. Incredible double standards..
