Is SAM (Steam Achievement Manager) against any rules?
Like for example, if i want to unlock achievments in games that i already finished playing but can't be bothered to come back and 100%, and if i want to revert achievments on games that i really want to 100% again (Nioh, FF XII), is my account in any risk of getting banned?

All the games i have and want to use this on are single player only, but there are some games that offer multiplayer achievments, like Tomb Raider, i want to use SAM to complete these achievments and focus on single player achievments, is this allowed?

Almost no developers ban for the use of that app nor care about it being used. If it unlocks things for multi-player, best to ask in the game hub before using as games like that might take action for that, but overall its unlikely.

It's not against any rules. I have heard that to be sure, you should not launch it while connecting to VAC secured servers, but I am not actually sure if that will trigger a VAC ban or not.

But that said, what SAM does is what you could do manually by accessing the Steam developer console. It is thus not bannable.

Only against morality of using an external tool to get what everyone else got through hard word and luck. It kind of cheapens the whole concept of achievements.
According to what I keep hearing people say about it, Valve does NOT care and it won't cause bans or other account issues.
For games like TF2 where achievement items get unlocked you will only get the item the first time.
Anyway, I choose the moral path, though you do what you want regarding SAM(or any other similar tool). Cheating in game though, thats still going to get VAC's attention(for games that have VAC).

No one has ever been banned from Steam for using it. However like all 3rd party tools they are use at your own risk.

Dead by Daylight will still ban for achievements if youre reported and its blatant.

Sounds like a favor from the developers if you ask me...

Thanks a lot guys, it may be just me since i'm a completionist, but some games feels like hell to replay just for achievments, but now i can just move on and 100% games i really enjoy playing, and it even allowes me to reset achievments i already got, this is just perfect

Too true at this point.

People have used SAM for years with no issues. There may be some developers who don't take kindly towards its use, but you cannot be banned for using it as there is no way to differentiate an achievement unlocked via SAM vs. The api call from the game itself.

I used it for tons of games including counter strike, tf2, etc and no ban. It's been around for decades, and no one has actually cared about it, not even valve. Besides it is super useful if an achievement is bugged or unobtainable for any reason at all.

No, you can't get banned by anti-cheat systems for SAM at all. SAM uses Steam APIs to make calls to Steam that achievements were unlocked or locked. It's completely undetectable and the game devs have to manually issue game bans.

Using SAM doesn't affect other players, it's you ruining your experience in doing achievements normally.
