Turkey and Argentina are doomed
Pricing and Steam Wallets in Turkey & Argentina will convert to USD starting November 20th.

Why Now?

Exchange rate volatility in Argentina and Turkey in recent years has made it hard for game developers to choose appropriate prices for their games and keep them current. We have heard this loud and clear in our developer meet ups and round table chats. In addition, we have had a hard time keeping Steam payment methods up and running in these countries/territories due to the constant foreign exchange fluctuations, fees, taxes, and logistical issues. Pricing games in USD for Steam customers in Argentina and Turkey will help us provide greater stability and consistency for players and partners, while also enabling us to continue to offer a variety of payment methods to Steam users in those countries/territories.

TLDR; Turkey & Argentina will be forced to USD and will pay much higher (with new regional pricing) than ever before.

We are witnessing the end of an era for the Turkish Lira and the Argentine Peso.

oh stop that drama, especially Turkey. you enjoyed dirt chip prices while poor countries like Ukraine paid twice as you and haven't cried how they "doomed". compare Turkey ans Ukraine do you think your earnings are lesser?
classic Ukrainian, who claims that they suffer the most :D
for real, they are already getting cheap prices on %99 of the games, look at this game for example: https://steamdb.info/app/1174180/

one of the most selling game of the world is 2 times cheaper in ukraine than anyone in the world, still claiming they pay the worst prices :DDDDDDDDDD this guy is funny man
It's not even that big of a deal. All it really means now is that a game will be priced at say $60 USD in the US and might be priced at $10 USD in Argentina.

Still much cheaper, but now if the currency in Argentina drops it will take more of your local currency to equal that $10. The dev's don't have to constantly adjust their game prices to try to keep up with their crazy currency fluctuations and instead can keep a consistent price for their games

I don't see Ukraine anywhere near %73 inflation rate, Ukraine's inflation rate in 2023 is 17%

yeah, right. that's what government wants it to be and hold currency at fixed rate not allowing it to spiral into sorry state. however when you go and buy loaf of bread or new hardware or meds you'll notice prices are doubled compared to pre-war.

before war and this recent inflation Ukraine paid 70% of base price (US price aka 60 bucks for game). and Turkey enjoyed much deeper discount

I just checked random game on steamdb and what do we see?
https://steamdb.info/app/1462040/

current price in Turkey 3 times less than in Ukraine. so stop making drama, tho I should praise your haggling skills, guys :)
Difference is that Turkey is actual country :)
This is really easy to be solved. DO NOT BUY ANY GAME FOR THE NEXT TWO MONTHS. It is Q4 for the companies, they are closing the year and steam become totally greedy just to show big numbers. The CEO wants his big end of year bonus. Just do not buy any game and they will be kicked so hard in their b**** that wont be able to get childs any more. Imagine getting zero sells from Turkey and Argentina in Chrismas eve.
Now, are you willing to do this? I'm pretty sure a lot of people will floud the internet with post like this one and nobody will do anything. That's how today's constumers react when companies become greedy.

Just because one company decided to give you high prices doesn't make you right. You are not even giving an example of top selling game, here is an example:

https://steamdb.info/app/1174180/

Turkey pays 2 TIMES MORE than Ukraine. How about that?

lol, probably one of a kind. even CP 2077 is higher in Ukraine. are you that poor?

Sorry but Argentina and Turkey make up a miniscule amount of sales on steam, so that won't even have an impact.

Not one of a kind, I gave you a game that is selling like hot cake. Let's see, what are the other games in the top selling part of steamdb?

Baldur's Gate 3
https://steamdb.info/app/1086940/

Again you pay cheaper than Turkish Lira? So, is this 2 of the kind now?

That's not true, hundreds and thousands of region hoppers using Turkish Lira & Argentine Peso to abuse regional pricing.

Yep, which is why dev's are happy with the change. The change will actually increase steam's sales by stopping the abuse

this is manual pricing done by devs. our regions had automated region pricing and devs often used it by default and with that pricing Turkey always sat at top 5 cheapest while Ukraine with 70% from base somewhere in the middle. you can show me manual pricing and I can show you automated pricing and we can do it all day. just accept that your prices were cheap for a country like Turkey. sitting in top 5 cheapest like you some poor Yemen and complaining when it is over is gross.

I wish Steam had taken numerous of precautions to prevent region hoppers. You can switch your currency by just adding a credit card that is located in the country you want to switch and that's it. It could have asked dozens of information to verify if someone wanted to change their currency, letting someone change their currency with one click of a button is not smart and maybe we wouldn't see these changes now.

Companies shows their numbers as a whole only to the stockholders. Internally, they must show that any region and any country were they sells are profitable. When some country and/or region drops below the target, belive me, someone's head will be cut. If sells drop to zero, the power point will say Argentina and Turkey revenue are at their historical minimum and we need to solve it.
Maybe the CEO of the company won't show this to the shareholders, but believe me that the Regional Manager will be really concerned.
I'm not here to complain, but just look at the change in the value of the currency, depending on the value of the game it will rise between 5% to 40% and this is here on this page the average salary here in middle class Turkey is 465 dollars This price change hurts a little, we will no longer be able to buy what we bought before on Steam. It is the reality. I hope that these values that Steam set do not continue to rise because I love Steam.

SteamDB has fetched Valve's new regional suggested prices, they are equal for LATAM and MENA regions. Here's how the new pricing structure will look:

I can hardly afford games with the prices as they are now, after the 20th i'll go back to piracy i guess. Computer gaming was the only choice for me (argentine) due to steam sort-of affordable prices. I can't afford going out with friends, so we play online instead and this is gonna be a big hit
