Alienware is built to last?
I bought my Alienware Aurora R10 Ryzen Edition with a 3080 in 2020 when CP 2077 came out and I can't believe that this rig is still running fine after so long and poor cooling and dust galore.

Alienware is a lot like MSI: beautiful computers and laptops, but not worth the price. I know because I recently had an MSI laptop that cost us over $3,000, and it only lasted about three years. Basically, to save money, these companies make laptops ultra thin, which can cause them to heat up and even melt inside. I not only ran the fans that were built in that thing full blast, but I also bought a 5,000 rpm cooling pad to go underneath it, and I would turn it up full blast; sadly, the laptop still somehow died on me.

Honestly, I really believe that these companies purposefully make laptops and desktops with cheap parts to save money and to cause the machines to break down quicker so that customers will have to keep coming back to buy another one. I remember back in the day that those old, thick computers would last a decade; now, I know from experience that the life span is just a couple to a few years.

I used to believe that if you paid more for a laptop or a desktop, you were getting a good value, but I have learned that nowadays, the expensive ones are made just as cheap, if not cheaper. For instance, not only did I lose that MSI that I only had for like three years, but I also had another laptop that burned up prior; it was an Asus Rog that we paid over $1,000 for, and it only lasted for like two years. I will admit that the Asus Rog did have a bigger grill, so it was able to get more airflow than the MSI, but the fans died in it and the insides melted. Anyway, after having so many bad experiences with expensive laptops, I decided to try my luck with cheaper ones. I am now using an HP Pavillion that was probably only around $400-600 give or take, and to be honest about it, I actually love this thing; it plays the games that I want to play just fine. In fact, I like it so much that I have another that we bought as a backup.

That I can agree on, although if someone has to be portable and travel alot for a living it can make sense. If you don't NEED it though, then yeah its a complete waste over a desktop

My last build is going on 10+ years. It got passed down to the wife who now uses it.
HAHA. Same. I kinda like when her stuff breaks. I can give her my parts and gives me an excuse to buy new ones and upgrade, especially since we both use the Mini ITX form factor. WIN WIN.

Not really, at a certain point in time these gaming laptops were worth it, because getting a good (or even, any!) desktop gaming GPU was close to impossible, due to the crisis with COVID, ongoing war(s), inflation/financial troubles and of course - GPU scalpers.

It is probably better now, but still far from the pre-COVID times, unfortunately.

My PC is on year 7 and still playing new games at epic settings...
Same situation here. Over 7 years now and still kicking without any issue whatsoever.
