My account got locked for a chargeback neither me nor my bank issued.
Purchased a game on Oct 18 with VISA. Yesterday I got a notification saying my account got restricted and the game revoked. Called my bank immediately and they confirmed it was on the merchant's side. Contacted steam support and no response so far. What can I do in this situation?

@Tibroxen i have messaged them yesterday.. still waiting for response.. its really sad from 7 years i have been purchasing from steam.. still they discard our accounts.. need better support from them and quick..
although everything is clear from the bank side..
Have you guys tried buying something else with your card? If it works, that confirms the problem is Steam.
@Pierce Dalton Yep, Amazon and local purchases all work good.

Update: I finally got a reply by Steam support and they unblocked my account! "We've unlocked your account as a customer-service gesture.

Your bank has declined to send the money to Steam. This typically means that the purchase was cancelled and your bank is still holding onto the funds.

Your bank will typically release the hold on your funds within 30 days. If after 30 days the funds haven't been released, please contact your bank for more information."

Sadly my Arkham collection is gone but thank god they actually solved this
I also got the same copy paste reply from the support, its clearly their fault. None of us has issued a chargeback on our own and neither has bank. Can’t let them get away with this. This so infuriating.

@samaeL got the exact same copy-paste response from Steam support. They did not solve it, they merely removed the lock from your account. Solving would mean Steam accepts something is wrong on their side and works on giving you the game back which you purchased. Also I'm pretty sure my VISA debit card which I used to purchase games is now banned, because I had it saved and can't see it anymore.

@fooza29 Previously when I tried to purchase with the lock, it gave me an error. Something alone the lines of "purchasing has been disabled for this account". Now I can see the payment select screen when I checkout, so I think I can purchase again. However I am afraid of purchasing anything, because I fear it might get revoked and my account locked for the second time.


ahhh well my issue is not yet resovled it still remains the same still waiting.
also if not visa now which card do we use now

Nope.
Just found this discussion. It is somewhat of a relief that I am not the only one with this issue but also concerning how many users have the same issue.

I do have a support request raised but they have not replied back.
