Cannot join group chats

In the Steam console I see error: "Assertion Failed: steam://friends/joinchat/ should be supported in React now!"

I cannot join any game chat.

Latest Steam client up-to-date on Windows 11. Restarting PC / Steam makes no difference.

I don't even know how to open the steam console but I have the same problem under Linux - Fedora 38/Gnome/Wayland. I encountered a thread somewhere that said they could open via browser. This (Firefox) worked for me also.

I don't have a link for the thread I just mentioned (I was searching for it when I found this.) Before finding that thread I posted about my efforts.

Wonder if Support knows about this.

Thanks, yes using a web browser is fine so something specific to Steam Client itself and how it handles these links.

I contacted Steam support and they told me to post it in the Steam Client Beta bug report section, although it's no longer a Beta which is odd. To be fair it does feel very beta, ha.

Still broken as of yesterday. Have to use a web browser. Valve is only a small company ;).
