Why are u here then
Microsoft will own Valve eventually, it’s just a matter of time.
Correctamundo. MS is gonna own this company. Just a question of when.
Considering it's Gabe's son(IIRC) that will be running the company after Gabe, I doubt it will be for sale.
I think Phil may be able to handle him.
They’re talking about a hostile takeover of Nintendo too.
If anyone has the money to do it, it’s Microsoft.
You're right. It's not gonna be pleasant news for our Steam enthusiasts, but i went back and forth with my Sony enthusiast friends, and needless to say, i won lol.
They were "talking about" it in 2018. 5 years ago in casual internal emails. Nintendo, being a Japanese company, is even less likely to sell considering the culture.
Microsoft literally wouldn't be able to do any hostile takeover. They are publicly traded and their console division isn't a giant cash cow.
It would be much too expensive for the possible reward.
That doesn't make any sense.
It figures it wouldn't. But i'll say it like this, get ready for a MS acquisition by 2028.
You cannot take over a privately held company. Hostile takeovers require buying stock. There is no Valve stock for sale on the open market. Any shares in the company are privately held and cannot even be sold to just "anyone" on the open market. Private shares generally need to be sold back to the business or to another approved investor/owner.
That makes it even easier. There's no shareholders for Mr Newell to go thru. He could simply retire, and get a great offer. Again, he;s getting too old for a gaming company, and as far as his son, well, come 2028 next gen we'll be hearing a lot about this.
MS can buy all of Amsterdam, let alone Mr Newell and his bar buddies lol
