Zero-Steam Lvl posting and Points for Jesters: aren't they the source of toxic behaviour?

Two things seem to be the source of all the toxic stuff in Steam discussions:

1. 0-level sock accounts
2. reimbursing steam-points for collected jesters

I'm don't mind privacy on steam accounts. But steam should gatekeep zero-history accounts from posting on discussion boards.

And we all know about jester-farming.

It's not like Steam gets 'Ad-Revenue' from Steam Discussions.
- engagement from jesters hate-trolling boards doesn't make Valve any more money.
- if it was YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, they would make ad revenue from triggered posters.
- why the heck does Steam go out of it's way to encourage this?

Never understand why people don't know this after so many years.

Level 0 accounts simply are private and friend only accounts. Toxicity and jester farming isn't related to the privacy setting of the account.

It's perfectly fine that private accounts post on the forums. Personally I have more issue with people attempting to gatekeep others based on flawed premises.

Profile name that don't parse on the forums but show up on their profile are the limited accounts you are looking for.

i wonder why steam shows level 0 for private accounts as it basically distorts account information? why it just doesnt show any lvl, i also got confused when i saw private poster with many posts doing 0 lvl on tf2 forum, because it gives impression it has no history, although i think i would generally prefer more ability to simply delete secondary information like lvls and badges, for example i used alt account because somehow you are tracked across using you email and phone, ie i cant remove phone due to sms security and use an account alt for privacy reasons, same why for example using iphone modifies your youtube suggestion even if you got no youtube login on your phone, a strange practice given often you may not even be aware of how the whole system works, ie in the past for example when no such systems existed you would keep going to different sites and none of that got stored since you could just delete coockies, now you login to some adult website or for example other obscure site out of curisioty and now your entire web identity revolves around sites which you went on for a couple weeks simply because you wanted to do research on your school project or smth, i think and creates a "false" identity since most of website never reveal the algorythms and how they modify it, for example if you visited 2 websites in your entire history now your entire suggestions are revolved around those 2 sites in your history, ie system is either tracks you a lot and suggests irrelevant stuff or just suggest default sites which to me both are equally irrelevant which is why i prefer stick to default sites in general because at least there i get generally popular things and not some 2 sites you know.

I know all private accts show as Zero.
Valve knows - we ought to block 'sock accounts' - a Probation Period that requires interaction.

Stuff you post is by definition .. "public".(it's not a DM)

And when your forum gets hate-brigaded; a lot of 'mask-on' posts can flagged by their previous behaviour.

Private accounts often enough aren't alt accounts and trolls often enough like to use public accounts.

There is nothing wrong with anonymity or sock-accounts.

They shouldn't be allowed to make horrific claims and run off and create another acct.
- probation gates (purchases, game activity etc).
