Unleash Your Inner Gamer: A "Ready Player One" Inspired Challenge Awaits!
Hey gaming legends

I've been cooking up this idea because I want Ready Player One to be reality, and I'm at a crossroads: Dive headfirst into building it out of sheer passion or shelf it for another daydream.

Imagine a Universe where every game you dive into, be it on Steam, PlayStation, or any platform, becomes part of a grander adventure. Not just the usual in-game achievements, but wild, unpredictable milestones! Think landing that insane no-scope collat in CS:GO, clocking a snail speed 5-minute lap in Forza, or even throwing 50 ruthless KO's in Tekken. Some achievements might be out in the open, while others... well, they'd be shrouded in mystery, "Ready Player One" style.

Team Up or Trade: Join forces with fellow treasure hunters, or trade those precious achievements with someone who's been eyeing them. The choice is yours!

The Ultimate Prize: Once the dust settles and the right achievements are collected, a grand prize awaits the victor. And then? The hunt begins anew, with fresh challenges and treasures.

Now, I won't sugarcoat it. The tech and design challenges are monumental. But before I embark on this epic quest, I need to know:

Does the idea of this platform interest you, would you use it?

Any red flags or golden suggestions to make this dream a reality?

I've yet to see that movie. It's a movie, right?

Yes, and not a very good one.

And as yet another grand concept for a metaverse with a sprinkling of NFTness ... no thanks. Hard Pass on that.

How would this appeal to anyone who doesn't care for achievements? Solve that without NFTs or any other web 3 gimmicks that many gamers can't stand, and you might just have a winning platform...

My idea is more around giving more value to an achievement by the achievement having a use beyond just collecting it. At the same time having you to connect with friends around getting achievements together.

Do you think that would make someone that doesn't care about achievements care about them more?

Totally with you around the web3 gimmicks, no point adding web3 if it meant no one would use the platform.

No.

I'm not sure I understand the concept.

Is it basically be the first to collect a variety of achievements from different games, which may or may not be known by the players, while somehow being tracked by the organizer(s) and win a prize?

Seems a rather conventional, yet vaguely-articulated, idea to expand on a set of challenges.

:Devilpopsicle: Smashing together disparate dishes does not necessarily make for a tasty result.

My only issue is how is something like this going to track our activity in the games we play without being a privacy nightmare? The very idea of any company tracking what we do in our games (often single player games without internet connections) is insanely scary. Sure you use it to reward us with achievements but what are you going to do with our gameplay data on the back end? Are you going to use it to assemble a profile of our game playing habits to sell it to advertisers? Even if you set a privacy policy noting would stop you from doing that.

I don't know about anyone else but I certainly do not like the idea of some company seeing everything we do in every game we play.

But I'm sure you will find enough sheeples that will go along with your plan and consent to allowing this software on their computer anyway.

That's what all these achievement hunting groups are already for and doing.

And no, if someone doesn't care about achievements, making a metaverse around them isn't going to start making them care.

I'm not entirely sure what it is you're implying here. Are you trying to suggest a new game idea?

For me NFTs are a big no-no. The NFT games we currently have are either blatant scams or would be better without NFTs at all.
