EAC (Easy Anti-Cheat) - False Positives?
Hello everyone! Since EAC does not offer to contact them anymore i guess this is probably the place to talk now.

I'm making this thread for my girlfriend, she recently got a brand new install of Windows 11 and everything was working well until she played Rust, 30 minutes into playing she randomly got banned by EAC? We thought it was just a weird false positive, sent an appeal and moved on.. almost 2 weeks later she gets in VRChat and after 30 minutes gets banned from the game (which uses EAC)

EAC Does not have a list of known conflict programs, I haven't gotten the chance to fully check her PC but the only out of the ordinary program she uses is a TTS program since she is born deaf, which isn't a conflict, she does not have any cheats or RGB controllers nor outdated Anti-Virus, any ideas?

I told her to avoid any EAC protected game for now but since they don't offer support, I don't see a solution to this.. thanks!

You should put some efforts in and actually read the thread instead of chatting non sense bs, no one is asking about unbans, just asking if there's known conflicts with software, for example 2 years ago i myself was banned from MW2019 because of Logitech's software, the ban was lifted a week later but affected many users, conflicts exists and usually can cause crash or incompatibility but may also cause false detections, EAC actually had a page that listed those but it was deleted in April of 2023, do some research before assuming things.
Actual false positives/actual false ban waves are generally dealt within 1-2 weeks.

Things lasting over 2 weeks, 4 and more are usually specifically for known cheating hardware & software. They also do go after ban evaders as well.

I never got hit for using logitech software in RUST, if anything in the past a controller being plugged in could cause crashes but was fixed.

It's safe to say if someone gets banned from EAC in multiple games, they know exactly what is running on their machine and aren't being honest about it.

It's just a very weird thing, i'm gonna spend the time in manually reinstalling her PC this time to make sure there's nothing wrong of it and we'll run tests to see if it's fixed, don't know if they can lift those but wouldn't be surprised if they cannot.

So if you're only inquiring about your girlfriend's ban, then that means that it is not your account, not your ban, not your problem.

Have your girlfriend read this:

https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/46DB-4CEC-F7E9-49E5

This is a user forum. As such, no one here can remove any type of ban.

The only people here are other Steam users.

You should know from the experiences with your own account, that those types of excuses don't cause bans. Something being wrong with the PC doesn't cause a game ban. Game bans are only given for cheating, griefing or smurfing.

You should also know EAC bans show as game bans on the profile and as per the information in the link above, that any game ban that is visible on the profile, is permanent.

"The duration of the game ban is determined by the developer. Only permanent game bans are displayed on the user’s profile. Temporary game bans, or suspensions, are not displayed."

You're the one who should be reading your other threads instead of making new ones.

If my math is correct, and I believe it is, your account has multiple VAC bans, and one game bans.

By the information that you've given in this thread your "girlfriend" has at least two game bans. Sounds to me like you two like to break the rules and cheat and then turn around and act shocked as if there is something wrong with the system in place. Stop breaking the rules and cheating and there won't be a problem. The only one here posting BS, is you.

Logitech software does not cause bans. If that were the case do you know how many millions of people would be banned? Yeah, stop making excuses. You should also know that Call of Duty 2019 is an Activision game and you cannot modify Activision games at all without it causing a ban. Even the menus are VAC secured.

I'm assuming nothing. You're assuming that I haven't heard every excuse in the book that a cheater has given. Your assumption is mistaken.

Rust does not use hardware bans. The only game that I know of that uses hardware bans, is Valorant.

rust does use hardware bans, they HWID repeat offenders, ie... anyone ban evading.

that being said, bans dont work very well, when they can just buy a new steam account with the game and bypass/spoof and vpn past bans.

Reformatting will not remove the game bans.

Yeah. Buying accounts. Buying Steam accounts is worse than any type of ban.

Yes that exactly what i'm saying, it won't, but it will most likely fix the issue of the account being, for some reason, banned wrongfully, the Rust banned i talked about last time was removed after 5 days and the last one was removed this morning, but that doesn't change the fact that 2 false bans were put on the account within 2 weeks.

Also just look up "logitch ghub call of duty ban", you will probably feel stupid (if you don't already).

Keep assuming things, you're a clown.

They will not remove any bans for known cheating software & hardware, or ban evasion. It will be permanent. So if they say No or don't reply within a week or two, safe to say the individual knows but wont admit to what they were doing that earned multiple game bans.

No no i failed to mention, the bans were removed, the Rust one just always comes back after a certain time in game and gets removed after a few days, but it keeps happening and who knows why, the other one was removed this morning as well but who knows, same thing might happen.

Close anything that controls RBG lighting, sometimes that can cause issues, though it should've been fixed last year.

You're the one making excuses. Peripheral software does not cause bans.

I'm surprised you didn't try to say "My account was banned because I joined a modded lobby."

Guess what? That doesn't cause a ban either.

Thought so but it isn't, doesn't have RGB at all, it could be some of her deaf assistance software thingies but i'm unsure, i'll see once i reset it myself.

How do you know it isn't a conflict, if EAC isn't replying to any of your inquiries and they took down their page of known conflicting software?

I would consider a TTS program very capable of being the actual cause, considering it may well be the case that it doesn't go through the proper accessibility APIs provided by Windows but instead may directly be 'hooking'[en.wikipedia.org] the Windows APIs used to render text for the text-to-speech conversion; or it may be injecting itself into the audio pipeline to capture audio and use its own overlay to render the text output of the speech-to-text conversion.

And that definitely could - and probably would - set off EAC, unless the tool is somehow explicitly white-listed.

Sounds like someone got HWID banned and is trying to get around it, tbh.
Doing a little digging, OP has no friends on their friends list who has any recent bans. I think the newest ban for people on that account's friends list is 600 someodd days old.
