whats the best way to get marketable items for free

Extreme luck, or holding onto something for years is about how you get anything worthwhile with minimal luck. Like rare CSGO cases, for example.

I've owned the game since beta in 2012.

But Prime was obtainable free from Dec 6, 2018 to June 3, 2021 by ranking up in game to level 21.
