Diablo IV is Coming to Steam

I wrote about this thing back in March 2022, in the realms of Steam, when Diablo 4 was not even released back then. I knew D4 would be here. I am vindicated once more. I quoted my old post in this matter:

Season 1 was so bad it turned me off diablo 4, I didn't even get halfway into it. :(

Well they need money. Game lost 99.8% of its playerbase in 4 months.
7 million playing at launch, down to 30k daily now.
Thats pretty bad for a GAAS focused muiltiplayer game.

The game certainly has it's issues, but I would think that near the end of a season/near the beginning of a new one, would probably be the lowest player population time for such a game. /shrug

i have 800 hours in Diablo 3 and i have ZERO interest in Diablo 4 with all the garbage like a shared online world, always online, cash shop items and microtransactions out the butt, all for a 80 bucks full price game.

I played the game up to endgame at launch, and did the free battlepass for season 1. Gotta say I was never tempted by any of the cash shop stuff, because it's all ugly as heck (personally, I think they went a bit too far in listening to the "omg, why is D3 so pretty, everything should be ugly mud/skulls/blood like D2!" crowd. And yes, I've played the games since D1.)

Shared world definitely sucks, though.

Blizzard didn't want my custom.(it wasn't on GoG or Valve).
And, over time, I stopped needing it. I wont be buying Diablo.

Grind mechanics is just pay-to-win with extra-steps.

I've seen the articles on how poorly Diablo 4 is doing. All I need to know is from sources I trust.

If it were Diablo or Diablo 2 I'd give them a chance. At one time I had the PS1 version of Diablo and loved it. I have no interest in Diablo 3 or 4. Honestly they should have stopped after 2.

Diablo 3 would have been a much better choice. IV is truly bland. D3 was and still is, a blast to play.

I enjoy D4 and D3. I haven't played much of either though honestly. Maybe 50 hours of D3 and not even online. D4 maybe 20 hours. I did find the game to be pretty fun though just kinda all over the place with questing. Probably something I have to get use to.

It's nice it's coming to Steam. I wouldn't buy it simply because I have it on Blizzard. Hopefully all will come back to the dark side soon.

It's not like Blizzard has a choice when the player count fell for both games on the Blizzard app.

It's the end of the season in Diablo 4. Much like how POE loses nearly all of it's playerbase at the end of their season.
