Is the steam shmups sale just an excuse to promote popular games that aren't actually shmups?

This is something that I heard youtubers complain and it kind of made me wonder why they would label certain games they are promoting on sale that isn't really shmup honestly? Like enter the gungeon, vampire survivors, synthetik 2, and hyper demon are not shmups and they belong to other genres. They're not similar to like gradius or ikaruga where you are playing a game where the screen is scrolling and you dodge bullets. I mean you do dodge a lot of bullets in some of those games, but they're not shmups if you know what I mean lol. I know its kind of hard to describe a genre sometimes but games like Gungrave Gore is not a shmup lol. Is steam doing this just to make a sale to promote games?

Eligibility is not defined by you, or some Youtubers. Understand that Valve is running the show.

Out of most video game genres, Shoot Em Up's are one of the largest branches that exist but no where near as big as Strategy, Simulation or just the blunt Action genres. Heck the size of the net Shoot Em Up's cast is large enough to not just caught a blue whale but likely the entire pod it was with and some odd hundreds of other fish in the process and still be half empty

Either you're views too narrow or Steam's/general users is too broad. For me point and click specifically means the style of the Lucasarts titles or early Sierra adventures. Steam it covers everything from hidden object games to first person games.

Makes search by genre on the store fairly useless for me, but there's also nothing I can do about changing it on Steam.
