How exactly do you expect to scam someone with a key?
No, I really wouldn't be surprised. I'm quite aware of that fact. But simply receiving a key isn't enough to scam someone or steal their account - now if you were given a link and told to go login to "receive" your key, then yes, that'd be a scam.
It's also true that I always see people advising not to plainly copy and paste activation keys because they will indeed be taken almost instantly by bots.
Delivering the key via e-mail or SMS via mobile phone involves obvious phishing that some people won't recognize as phishing.
That just a few ways.
Any other questions?
As far as posting keys in the open- you can add symbols or additional characters to the key with instructions to remove all "* and ? and ! and &"- if a bot copies and pastes the key with the extra symbols or characters- it will not activate because it is an invalid code. You'll still have human ninjas who can read and follow the instructions to remove symbols or specific characters, but at least it will be an actual human redeeming the key.
You can message me fine now, I think
Again, I'm aware. I mentioned as much in my previous reply. It'd be nice if you had read it. The reason I asked that is because I've seen people under the impression that simply having someone redeem/activate a key to their account is enough to allow someone to hijack or damage another person's account.
So, no scams here.
Thanks Mr Bristol 79 for the nice gift! :)
So...
TL;DR- your other response was not visible on the page when I started typing.
But then crap like this thread happens, where you can’t even give away something for free and people act like you are committing crimes or trying to phish for something. Some of you just need not to post and let others have fun.
Like I have said previously I buy cheap bundles of games and any duplicates I give away as I have no need for them.
I would rather someone can make use of the games that I will never redeem or use.
Twice I have created threads offering similar keys and twice it's met with sceptism and negativity.
I did actually ask NakiBest if they wouldn't mind replying to the thread as I actually thought it would re-enforce it isnt a scam and that they had redeemed the key correctly, I asked for nothing in return and removed NakiBest from my friends list once the key was confirmed to have been legit and redeemed that way it showed there was no intention to later on try and scam them as previously mentioned in this thread.
I too am now coming to the same thought process, the bundles of games I buy are cheap and financially do not impact me, giving away keys to like minded gamers I actually thought was a nice gesture.
Not everybody is out for financial gain.
I wouldn't worry about it, those which didn't get the game offered to them are just jealous they missed out. A lot of the time as well they will use an ALT account with very few games on to try and persuade you that they don't have as many games as someone else so they must get the game.
This happens every time someone offers a free game, if you were to put a code down, you'd get the screams of "bots took the game" even if someone said thanks or you'd get "the code was fake".
You're never going to win with some folks. If you want to give a game away then don't let what folks say bother you, just remember the person who received the game hopefully has a smile from ear to ear and full of excitement at your generosity.
