Funniest thing is- today Humble Bundle put up a huge bundle for GoDot engine courses. Which is the most hilarious and smartest thing I've seen come from any of this yet. (And it raises money for a good charity too.)
That would hurt the developer far more, especially as microsoft will most likely pass the cost back onto the developers as part of their contract, they get far less money from a game being played on gamepass then they would if they sold it on steam. $.20 isn't going to change that...
Unless you're MS owned, theyre not going to put any random game into game pass. 95% of indie devs dont have that option

Right i can agree with that, but even more in that MS may be "reluctant" to take in Unity based games, given the costs.
But i would probably look at a developer, i personally been fan of for more than decade, over at the WW1 Game Series.
Unity based games, now may even be in development of their next (don't know that, but can assume), has their games on consoles as well, and atp, may be worth looking into GP, if to mitigate the costs, at least in the interim. Meaning, games that are already in mid development, and may have no choice.
They could try charging game companies using their engine if their TOS changes can be proven enforceable as it was not the agreement at the time but going after companies like the big console makers is another factor.
its also sort of just dumb. there's no way Unity can tell if a game install is due to a subscription or a stand alone install. There is literally no way for unity to tell this apart. But they rae going to use 'magic' to differentiate this and then bill MS for it
The issue is each install runtime, and we have no idea how they claim to have determine the figure, let alone how this gonna cost on all the devs & publishers.

I know valve is practically a mega publisher with Steam, but I rule them out from being cheap.
