The future of abandonment of Windows 7, the woke moderation of the discussions, the Jester/award farming (which has led to tons of trolling & bait on the discussions, a clear example of incompetent decision-making by the developers), the anti-consumer DRM policies (including increasingly ubiquitous Denuvo), the fact that I'm forced to download updates that I may not want (such as the Skullgirls situation), and, worst of all, the malfunction of the back button & awful new UI that I can't opt out of... is why I'm finally moving over to GoG and/or physical copies for consoles.

And before you say something, I have 247 games in my library and have been using Steam since 2011, when TF2 going free got me into it. I haven't bought any game here for months, and nor do I intend to ever again. I'm not interested in paying for temporary digital licenses. Quite frankly, I am ashamed to have been doing it for so long.

Valve has fallen. Goodbye.

Blocking Win 10 from overwriting GPU drivers took jumping through some hoops, don't remember what exactly stopped it, but to modify any of the builtin settings you have to Turn OFF Secured Boot and UEFI, which I have no benefit from being on in the first place. BUT those 2 actually block the User from modifying OS options. I still have 12+ "tasks" that I cannot disable, in the background, some have a legitimate use, some not, funky names designed for obfuscation. And ~6 services I do not want on, that cannot be modified or deleted. Why do I need a Network Proxy discovery if I am not behind a proxy ?

That's Waaaaaay way way too much effort. It's just a few steps instead: Click the magnifying glass on taskbar for search -> type in advanced system -> click View advanced system settings -> hardware tab -> device installation settings button -> tell it NO to NOT download drivers automatically. This will prevent windows 10 from automatically downloading drivers from windows update for your devices. Then you can uninstall your graphics drivers -> DDU in safe mode (windows key + R for run box -> msconfig -> safe mode btw) -> msconfig again for normal mode -> boot back to normal mode -> install only whatever driver version you want. It just takes a few moments and there is none of that crap you went through.

I haven't bought a game from Steam in a while. I have almost 200 games, and I've been a member for 8 years, and I wish I never even made an account. In the beginning, everything seemed alright; I had never gotten a warning or any bans—that is, until they dropped the volunteer moderators and opted to hire some instead. After that, it's like every little thing I say gets called "spam" or they just ban me over the silliest stuff. It's to the point where I barely post anymore; the censorship is just that bad; you can't express your opinions; it's as bad as Reddit. If you get an enemy here that stalks you, they can mass report your posts, and the moderators just blindly toss the ban hammer. It's insane.

As for dropping support for Windows 7, that is silly. I don't use Windows 7, even though it is my favorite; unfortunately, I use Windows 11 for gaming reasons. As for DRM, I have always hated that. Whatever you buy through digital storefronts has hooks and spyware, and it's not truly yours; you are only buying a "license" to play. It's all really silly, but I think it's all in preparation for what's coming in the future.

Not to mention OP calls people "consoomer paypigs" when they've bought an average of 82 games a year over the course of their 3 year old account. My own account only has an average of 66 games bought per year.
