My bet is Epic has exclusivity on the KH4 game too, and the KH1-3 games exclusivity period is tied to KH4's exclusivity period.
I'm also half-expecting FFXVI to also be an EGS exclusive, considering that Yoshi-P's response to people wanting that game to be on PC was "get a PS5 lol". Considering the drastic shift from using that language to Square-Enix actually developing a PC port has me thinking that I know who we are to thank for that to happen.
I will acknowledge that there is a possibility that FFXVI will probably release on Steam after spending some time on the Epic Games Store but seeing that the PC gaming scene in Japan has been a source of annoyance for me in the past decade, I'm not willing to wait for a Steam release that may never happen when other Japanese game developers share Yoshi-P's sentiment.
THis waiting for KH4 thing makes no sense. KH4 won't be for years probably, and if 3 didn't finish the story without starting a new one, why would 4 wrap everything up? So 4 will just be another similar case. So why not wait for 5, or 6? It's not like it's gonna be over with 4
all epic does is scout exclusivity contracts and give away games. exclusivity contracts on PC hurt the industry as a whole. their app is resource intensive and dosent have all the features i want. the only reason players even use epic is cause of the free games. if epic didnt give away so many free games they would have fallen to obscurity already, like microsofts games for windows.
It hasn't, and you're still speculating about the circumstances of its exclusivity instead of playing the game. I'm pretty sure that the port only happened with Epic's money. And quite frankly, I think we need more EGS exclusivity deals similar to KH where PC ports of certain games can even exist at all
Square is, frankly, an out of touch company that does what square wants. It's just like Nintendo. Sad part is, people still buy it. I'm sure KH will eventually come to steam. It may not even be soon. I think it's dumb all the speculation of waiting until KH 4, since KH 4 basically doesn't exist in any tangible capacity, but it may very well take until the NEXT complete package, including KH4 to get a steam release, but they will. They still release games on steam, and Epic's exclusivity has been failing them, with the company falling apart. It'll never fail completely, but Epic is about as much of a joke of a competitor to steam at this point as Origin, Uplay (sorry, ubisoft connect, like there's any real difference) Battlenet, and every other attempt at a launcher in existence. What's funny is epic had the capital to do it right, but they took the low route, and, like all, it failed them. They could've spent all that money to bank roll the development of a good launcher. Learn what steam did right, and fix what steam falls short on. They could've repeated steam's success, and built a launcher that has the same games Steam has, not intruding on them coming to steam, but provides features and an experience that makes users want to leave steam to use EGS.
Instead they took a page from apple, google, and every other walled garden. These companies continue in spite of their approach, not because of it. Epic didn't figure that out, but valve knows it. I think Steam's success comes from Valve being headed by someone who pushes hard for this kind of business. The kind of person who recognizes piracy isn't something you can stop. You can only make it more reasonable to purchase by making it easy to do and worthwhile. So, Epic will coast by in the background until, like EA, like Ubi, like Battlenet, and more, they are tired of leaving money on the table, or I guess, in this case, dumping money into a pit. The trend for the past 5-7 years has been TOWARDS PC gaming and towards games being available where people play, not forcing people to come to the games, and that trend promises that one day, KH will get a steam release. Here's hoping it's soon. Hell, I'd even bet one day, when Nintendo gets the old guard stick out of it's ass and maybe gets a president who's not, well, Nintendo, we'll see Nintendo games on PC. Of course, a LOT would need change, as Nintendo releasing it's games outside of their own platforms will, in the long run, kill them as a hardware developer. The Nintendo doing this would have pivoted heavily away from punishing users for going outside of their norm, and this would be like Apple suddenly letting third parties make their own phones with iOS, but, in the grand scheme of things, it looks like things are moving in the right direction.
I just find it funny people here act like EGS is anything but a piss poor attempt at a monopoly.
I don't care if it in Epic or Steam, but Square Enix ridiculous pricing has push me back.

This is the current pricing on Epic games and there is Black Friday Sale active right now with a -33% off Discount.
But no Square Enix didn't even bother to put it on sale.
They are selling the game at the Full price. The game has not even go down in pricing after 3 years.
Meanwhile the All-In-One that include the 3 games, is on Sale in Amazon for 31$ USD....
Buying it on PC would cost me 170$ USD.
Yeah it's just square enix doing their thing. The pixel remasters are still the same price on steam, with no sale due to autumn sale. That's dumb.
It's now on sale in epic with 60% plus the coupon if you want it, Am really for sure the saga will never come to Steam, I still refuse to purchase it on Epic and on top of that, it has always online DRM which can be skip with mods
As for keeping things in one store, it's actually very easy for your Steam library to disappear (IIRC, this was the case on December 21, 2017. Don't remember the exact date, but there was a major outage that made Steam unusable unless you leave your computer on overnight). There is wisdom in keeping your library split across multiple launchers and while it is definitely inconvenient to not have all your games in one place, you'd still have access to other games in times whrtr Steam isn't an option
