no games require windows 11 yet, starfield so far is the only one that made me update to win10 22H2
Not really accurate at all, 2 years is basically the MINIMUM, not the max. Support doesn't end for around 18 months, and it can keep working for years afterwards just like it did for past OS's.
Steam has never once killed an OS as soon as Microsoft did. They often support it for YEARS after microsoft stops.
Steam won't drop support for Windows 10 until the userbase for Win 10 has dropped to a negligible amount.
Nope, already established that, you can read it again. 18 months is the bare MINIMUM, and there hasn't been an OS yet that Steam hasn't supported for at minimum a year after support ended, most were supported for even longer.
So 3-4 years is far more likely. The key factor for when steam drops support isn't time, its the users. If people stay on Win 10 then they won't drop support. Once the numbers drop below a significant threshold they tend to drop support.
Will be interesting how that works out.
Bwahaha ... an annual subscription to keep it going past when they drop it.

You'll notice that is directly from Microsoft btw.
I can see this turning into one more big ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ...
How to works is same way they been doing it since Windows XP OS hits EOL, then offer ESU for subscription, prices are often costly for ESU, so most people just move instead, remaining stays until they feel like moving, or has to because of software updates, or to access newer software.
They have done this for the last 3-4 OS's, but before it was only offered to business licenses. Businesses could pay and get support and updates after its EOL. This is the first time they are making it available to individuals though.
