[SOLVED] My Steam Currency suddenly changed
I was trying to buy a game on steam store called arcane raise and while I was buying it, it gave an error and told me to try again later and when I refreshed the page my steam currency went from TRY (Turkish Lira) to UAH (Ukrainian hryvnia). I am currently opted to "Steam Client Beta" and that might be what caused it. Is anyone having same issue?

Edit: After talking to steam support back and forth they saw that I am innocent and reversed it back for me even though they said that Steam support can't change my currency. So I am glad they helped and solved my issue. I asked them what caused it and still waiting for reply and will edit this thread if I ever get an answer.

Edit 2: It happened again while I was trying to buy - Arcane Raise - again and my currency switched back to UAH from TRY. I am frustrated at the moment.

Edit 3: I've got response directly from Valve and they updated my account and fixed it again. They told me to try the purchase again and now my currency does not get changed when I buy games from Steam Store. Thank you for everyone in thread and to Valve for helping me out as quickly as they can. This problem was occurred in May 27 and now it is completely fixed for me in May 30, that 3 days of waiting felt longer than 3 days but yeah props to Valve for fast response and taking action.

Well.... where do you live? Turkey or Ukraine?

Turkey, never went out of Turkey and never used VPN or proxy while using Steam

Interesting, this is the third thread today from a user that their store region suddenly changed.
I wonder whats going on, if its intentional or a bug.

I don't have payment method attached to my account. I checked my login history as well and everything is in Turkey. Here is the screenshot:

Did you contact Steam Support? I contacted them and they gave me a copy paste reply and didn't help, still contacting to them under different categories hoping to get help soon.

You should really remove this link as it contains your Steam account name which is not something you want to make public. If you are wanting to share this kind of information, crop or black out this account name.

I'd advise against opening multiple tickets, spamming tickets will just make support block you from making new tickets. If they give you a copy paste reply, just keep replying to the same ticket and explain that you want a human to reply because the copy paste response didn't suffice.

I keep replying to the first one and created another under different section because I don't know where to report to get help.

Quick note, if you don’t actually live in the country your region was set to before the change, don’t contact Support.

Just let it go. Don’t try to push the issue. It’s not something you want to advertise.

According to the Steam reddit its happening to a bunch of users right now.
Seems Steam is forecefully changing the region of accounts they suspect are region hoppers.
Happens when you try to buy something on the account or sell something on the market.

Dont expect more info from Steam about this like usual but interesting nontheless.

Supposedly the way they determine region is through payment methods, well now it is based on IP I guess, but it is a lot easier to abuse imo. Which is why they changed to payment methods a year or so ago.

It happened to me too.
