Edit: practically everyone dropped win 7 now because MS did.
For gaming at least.
10 does have a lot going for it, but also quite a bit of wrenches thrown into it. 11, being much like a dumbed down 10, suffers much of the same issues (albeit, I'll add that the UI seems a little clunkier, probably because of lack of customization).
2. 10 is obviously more secure, since it's been patched for vulnerabilities where as 7 has not. And tired of seeing the lames excuses of "But I have good anti virus" etc etc, since those don't matter for the exploits, that is what made them so dangerous and why patched. System level access, bypassing software based Anti-Virus and Firewalls.
3. Windows 7 never offered better performance. That was yet another myth. What made 7 seem like it was faster, was the old system requirements, since had far less features and support. You know why Vista was hated? Because it's system requirements were so high, yet a little later... Vista SP3 came out(Aka, Windows 7) and suddenly everyone loved it, even though same requirements, but newer hardware had become cheaper by that time, thus dropping prices on hardware that 7 would run comfortably on.
Another debate that is opening up, same story, but with less people.
Edit: Basically, if you are looking at me to argue those debates, well do I have news for you (wrong person). I just brought them up because they are actual steam forum debates. "Steam forum" being about the best you are gonna get in the steam forums.
I wasn't using "performance" on the sense of just system resource usage. I was considering user experience, as well as what amounts to reliability. "Performance" was the best word I could find at the time to fit the bill.
After a fresh windows 10 install you have SO MUCH POP UP AND ADDS!!! and removing all the them, + uninstalling all the ♥♥♥♥ and useless software, you have for more than 1h to do it.. and you have to know about it. While windows 7 is a ready to use.
Windows 10, when you look at the task manager, it's a mess how many programs run on a clean version of windows 10.. Soooo much programms.. Sometime your CPU will goes crazy 100% and remains there for no reason.. Same for the HDD which will slow down the computer.
I got so much problems and frustration with windows 10.. which is not a windows by the way but more a fusion of bad idea integrated into a badly designed OS. everything is squary, gray, depressing..
Windows 7 with the aero effect was beautifull, colorfull and pleasant to navigate. Yes you can add those stuff to windobe 10 but it remains a windobe 10 with a better look lol.
The only thing windows 10 have is DX12.. which is bad compared to what an optimised vulkan API can do. vulkan also beat DX11.
Microsoft Did a great job by forcing their free upgrade to everyone. Since windows 95 you had to buy your copy of windows, but with windows 7, Microsoft knew that windows 7 was not intentionnaly coded to steal informations and selling it to third company, probably China...
Why do you think they forced everyone to windows 10, freely? Come on.. nothing is free in this world and not from billionair XD.. we are numbers for thems, dont forget..
So yea, Windows 10 is a real snake and it's really sad that Linux is not becoming the #1 Gaming O.S. because i would go Linux since everyone has left Windows 7 behind which was a great Operating System, that could run any new software if they removed their fingers and returning to a great opearting system.
I still dont understand that no bells has ringed when Microsoft announced that windows 10 was free for any windows 7 users. It smelled the danger from miles.. We know how Satanic Microsoft has become..
Time to wake up to the hard reality!
Both Windows 10 and 11 literally ask you DURING INSTALLATION which services you want installed and what data you want to share with Microsoft.
It takes not even 5 minutes to config everything how you want, that is BEFORE Windows 10/11 even starts the first time.
The only thing i ever got on a fresh Windows 10/11 after first install was a empty desktop.
The same as with Win 7 before.
Hmm. maybe because i have Windows Pro ( upgraded my old Win 7 Pro key first to 10 and later to 11) but i definitely had no social media stuff installed on a fresh install.
Maybe there are different versions?
I would remember if i had to uninstall TikTok because i never would keep that garbage.
The only things you need to do once a clean install is done, is disable the Microsoft Store Suggestions, takes 30 seconds, Disable Cortana, 30 seconds, disable OneDrive(Which I recommend everyone does anyway) 2 minutes max depending on Storage Speed and CPU.
Not sure what CPU you're using that pegs to 100% in Windows 10, but I don't even get that on a Q9650 from 2008.
And just an FYI, DX12 was based off Vulkan. Yes, if you don't have a modern DX12 card that's not some cheap old version, you won't get a good experience. But you'd get the same experience from Vulkan from that exact same card with exact same settings in most cases.
And you know why Windows 10 was free? Not for any reason you're thinking of, that's for sure.
They don't make money from retail sales of Windows, they never have made money from Retail sales. They make all their money from OEM sales, so quit the conspiracy bologna.
Yeah, Cortana and OneDrive is the only things i can remember i actively uninstall each time on a fresh Win 10/11.
