You are wrong simply due to overwhelming evidence.
No one can debate it.
It is literally impossible.
Spawn was a former moderator, he knows what he's talking about.
It's clear as day by his own words how it functions.
Going after people is not cool here.
Sex sells. Always has.
Valve knows how big that market can become.
And yet I just came across others on reddit having the same experience I've had. I have a screenshot but I'm not sure how to share it here.
YOU sir are the one that was hostile and rude towards me. Maybe brush up on your communication skills. "This has to be a joke"
Not at all.Going after people isn't cool? Then don't come for me
is it possible that somehow yours was enabled without you ever having checked it? yes, but it seems unlikely because it'd be very odd for a bug like that to affect only one person. people just telling you that it's highly likely you are just mistaken is not "ego validation" they are just letting you know how the system works, or at least is supposed to work
now with that said i understand some people are being a little more rude than they need to be but the point still stands
HOWEVER ............ SOME of us had those filters magically turned on by themselves when those filters where implemented. Maybe a bug? Not sure but I am in no way alone in this situation and it's really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ the knee jerk reaction was to tell me I MUST be wrong, forgot or am otherwise deluded.
Believe it or not, I don't care, but I am stating it in case others are suddenly confused why they are served endless Hentai in the visual novel section. I've only started being interested in visual novels and oh boy! I wasn't prepared. :) But that's why I hadn't noticed previously.
Thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/Steam/comments/11l6fzu/friendly_reminder_that_you_can_disable_games_with/
They did not magically turn on in fact the link you provided has the following wording:
Friendly reminder that you can disable games with sexual content in the storefront from the account preference. It is off by default. - https://ibb.co/r6ZnvxL
Just block him and move on. When it comes to the reporting trolls, he's got better plot armor than the U.S.S. Enterprise.
"Censorship is akin to banning steaks because the baby can't chew."
Besides, if it wasn't for Steam the furries wouldn't have anywhere to play games.
It might not be that simple.
For one thing, people often don't understand what "Porn" actually is. They might see a lady with skimpy clothing... porn! Burn her!
And then there's the options in the store. I don't think I can specifically filter for those, so I'll go with tags as an example: if I filter my library for the "Nudity" tag, I get the usual suspects. But, I also get "Final Fantasy", I get "Hitman", I get "The Witcher", and probably other stuff but I'll leave it at those big names.
Now, I've cross-checked just a few with ESRB content descriptors and it seems the Final Fantasy example that I got didn't show up there, but "The Wticher" is even stronger than I had anticipated: among others, it has "Nudity" and "Strong Sexual Content" -- compare this to fanservicy games which generally have "Partial Nudity" and "Suggestive scenes".
In other words, people might just enable things in the store because they feel it might not do what THEY want. But, of course -- it's difficult for Valve to implement an option to "☑ hide stuff I don't want".
In fact, I have on occasion applied suggested tag filters to the library of the person that was asking the question, and pointed out which of THEIR games would have been filtered (and they might even have played it). Things just don't 100% match what you expect.
Well, memory is a fickle thing. It's not like checking a simple box in a bunch of settings is a life changing traumatic event. There's been a plethora of times where I have gone into settings for, well pretty much anything, and can't remember why or when I chose a particular setting. There's been plenty of times I've gone into settings for something thinking I need to change something and come to find out, I already had, but have no memory of doing it.
The thing is, it could be a bug, but if it is, it appears to be a rare random bug, which makes it very difficult to find out why it happens and even harder to squash. It would be one thing if there was a commonality among those affected - accounts over a certain age, a specific profile item used, or what have you. That would allow troubleshooting to pinpoint a possible cause.
As it is, based on how the settings work, and past history of people who have complained only to eventually realize or remember that they did manually make the adjustment. And the fact that this particular setting is the only one affected by the bug, faulty memory (or outright fabrication by those with an agenda against Steam) ends up being the most likely scenario.
