I mean Nestle's CEO says clean drinking water isn't a human right. I don't see you boycotting hot pockets or Cheerios.
You can do the same on Steam.
We were so close.
Except when a state tried to regulate Facebook, guess what happened? A federal judge slapped it down. Hell, back in 2019 they slapped down a law similar to the Utah one(only in Texas instead) requiring a government ID to verify age to view pornographic content.
So it looks likes states tried and the federal government(which overrides the state) already has precedent of telling them "No."
I'm sorry, what international court? Valve is located in the State of Washington. To the extent his business is located here, he had to be bound by our laws. In addition, being he sells and operates in other countries (as cited one, Australia) he had to abide by their courts.
However, we are still free as citizens to file with the Federal Trade Commissions, if we feel wronged, and i have. Anyone can there as well here in the states.
The FTC already told you to keep your software up to date. So it looks like they agree with Valve.
Oh well now you're onto other matters. There's that movement "No Oil" and grassroots movements like that. In fact i just played a video game i think goes to that (Under the Waves).
In any event however, the matter with Valve, like MS and others, are generally the courts, federal regulators and states that deal with them.
Well then the FTC have to send us checks for the monies we lost doing as such. Like the FCC, had to send us coupons to upgrade in the Digital Conversion matter. So, bring that up to them if you file a complaint.
We're not talking about bringing Mr Newell into an UN International Tribunal sir. Its a rather simple matter, federal, state and regulators in various countries deal with regularly.
Two different regulators and situations.
This isn't the government forcing an upgrade on consumers due to regulation changes. Please read about the situation before comparing them.
By all means go ahead and try to push this, I for one would like to see the response litter that they send you lol
That's right, and both work for the Federal Government. And so if you're saying the FTC is encouraging folks to upgrade, encourage your congressman to encourage them, to send checks for the monies we would lose doing what they tell us.
Here's the thing. Win 7 is not being taken away from us. That's what they'd tell us.
MS is not yanking, what we paid money for. We can use it. It may not be supported. I have games 40 years old not supported.
However, what Steam is doing, is locking us out of the games we purchased.
We did not purchase, Google. We did not purchase, You Tube. And to the extent Win 7 may not handle those apps, is not losing us money. This is.
What Valve should do, and may be prompted to do, is change the term "Purchase" to "Purchase Lease". Meaning, we lease the licenses, not own them for use. That would take much of the fang out of these cases, regulation, or possible thereof.
Also International Tribunal? I mean the OHCHR: https://www.ohchr.org/en/privacy-in-the-digital-age
And those who control the Privacy of the Digital Age, more directly: A/HRC/39/29
Further followed with: https://www.ohchr.org/en/calls-for-input/report-right-privacy-digital-age
You see the lawsuit against Steam and Australia took place in 2014, this privacy clause forces all states and parties on the international table to go through the UN as of 2018.
You really didnt think the UN was going to let several nations dunk on companies now did you? No, you see the digital policy covers even Steam and companies: https://www.ohchr.org/sites/default/files/Documents/Issues/DigitalAge/ReportPrivacyinDigitalAge/A_HRC_39_29_EN.pdf
As it now stands, Europe has no power here, the court of the UN does as of 2018.
What part of this is their platform do you not understand? They have every right to update their platform if they wish to.
How long are you going to sit here and continually ignore that you agreed to these terms? Whether you actually read them or even saw them or understood them. It is your job to understand these things and to read them.
Odds are, you will.
The ONLY way for regulations to step in is ONLY if digital store has disclaimer giving you a guaranteed LIFE time support with no mention of dropping guaranteed LIFE time support, which NO digital video game store ever promise, nor provides said LIFE time support. If anyone does that, then means they must do it for rest of their life for that customer as long they live, that means including shutting services, and such hence why no one brain dead willing to do this, even people that does regulations agress that is brain dead ridiculous to force anyone agasint their will which why you keep saying "regulation will do something" will not because it's not reasonable by any means. even publishers, and game devs will be agasint it full stop because means it to ensalve them agasint their will for LIFE time which why again like I said it's not happening, there no regulations agasint dropping OS's.
