Steam app refusing to fully correct language after account hacked

Anyone know how to get the app to appear in English again.

Steam support fobbed me off when I got hacked and ever since it's been stuck in what I assume is Chinese despite the language being set to English

Watch this very carfully.


Steps:
1. Now to explain if you're using in the mobile app "account settings" you NEED to ensure that english is selected in the drop bar for here then click SAVE at bottom, this is not part of APP settings this an ACCOUNT setting that cover Mobile app, PC app, and Web browser app. Do not check any boxes, no boxes should be check unless you want those ADDITIONAL languages. You only need to select drop bar, select english not the check box the drop down menu bar, then click save.

2. Now on the MOBILE app, click the three lines > now scroll to the bottom > click on settings > under language select either "use account settings" or manually set it to english.

3. FORCE CLOSE/QUIT/STOP your mobile app, not normal close, you have to force the app to stop running, once done, go ahead, and launch the app, and see if issue resolved.

Hopefully this get things back to english for you.

Visit your account preferences settings, and change it.

For Steam client > Top left Steam > Settings > Interface > Select client langurage drop down menu.

For Steam mobile click three bars at bottom right > scroll down to settings > change it to either account settings, or set it to english.

Mine changed, look under store preferences, language, under your nickname.
The hacker used Simplified Chinese. But I think display defaults to English if your PC does not have the specific language installed.

Unfortunately none of these work. I'm set to English everywhere but still stuck with the Chinese language.

I am slightly concerned that even with changing my password etc that my account is still compromised somehow

I've no way to know for sure. I've force logged it out, changed passwords and I've done full scans on computers logged into the account, but I've no way to know for sure.

The authenticator is flawed and not trustworthy as it happened with that enabled, so I've not relinked a card to purchase with yet.

Unfortunately.

This is only an issue on the app. On a PC everything looks normal

Dr.Shadowds solution looks to have worked. I've had to do it through a computer to see that in the language preferences link it's been changed to simplified chinese as the main language to use instead of English (Even though the mobile app was working the same no matter if forced into English mode or the preferred language stuff)
