People using cheats to get all achievements...
It's very unfair that steam doesn't do nothing with the people that uses external software to get all achievements of certains games with just one click.
One of the reasons why some people like to buy steam games is because it looks nice in your profile when you get all it's achievements, and seeing people that gets all that with just one click demotivates you a lot, and steam never did something against it.

Also there is games that gives you like 1000+ achievements just by opening them. I had the bad luck of opening one of those and it unlocked me 3000+ achievements just by opening the game, it even crashed my pc. Why steam doesn't control this? I don't get how steam doesn't have a system who manages all these things....

Why does it matter to you how someone else unlocks the achievement.

You unlock it in the way that makes you happy and they will do the same.
steam has let this be a individuals choice....

just because you like the reward of doing achievements
doesnt mean its the same for others... and visa versa...

be happy with your choices... and let others be happy with theirs..
Steam achievements don't actually mean much. That's why Valve doesn't care to stop people from cheating them.

Maybe for you, but i've known people that complete games even twice only to get all the achievements.
You can't think all the people are like you.
I didn't care at all about achievements until i realized how nice a profile looks when you complete certains games. And if steam has a system that is made for that stuff it should be fixed

I know someone can do whatever they want, but since steam's rules doesn't allow you to use external software to get these things, shouldn't be this forbidden?

no, they are in fact worthless

i also like getting all achievements in games but i'm very much aware that they're worthless

1. Взломанные ачивы сразу видно.
2. Не все игры можно выбить честным путём и они просто висят в твоём профиле недобитые.
3. Некоторые ачивки не выпадают из-за бага. Что с ними делать?
not true... i person that will buy a game with and for the achievements
over a game without makes them valuable to actioning a sale...

You don't even need an external program to do it, you can use steam console commands. Valve has already stated in the past they do not care what people do with achievements.

No they are indeed worthless. If you collect used gum you find on the sidewalk because it has value to you, the used gum is STILL worthless.

The reason why steam can't do anything is unlike consoles PC's are an open system. The 3rd party tools just spoof the identical commands the game sends saying to unlock the achievement with no way to tell them apart.

You'd have to transition to an always online system and restrict your ability to use games to make it more secure, and since the overwhelming majority of steam users do not care about achievements it just makes no sense.

As already stated someone else cheating their achievements doesn't diminish the value you have in accomplishing them, unless you let it. Who cares if someone else cheats, you know you earned them.
not true... achievements do create and increase $$$ sales...
emotionally valuable to those that want games with achievements
but also financially valuable to those that make sales of their games
because they have achievements.. ....

Guess you have a point on it, maybe the system os not perfect but if i see this from that perspective is kinda true

I feel that people should be able to do whatever they want with the game in single player mode. Whether it's mod it, cheat, whatever.

If they cheat on multiplayer play or multiplayer leader boards, then they should be excluded from the boards, and from all multiplayer activity on the game, and ideally their profile should show it, but that's it.

The only impact on you a player who uses cheats in single player may have is making your full achievement less special, or making the percentage of people with a rare achievement a little higher than it should be.

Personally it's the other way around for me, when I go back to a game after a while first thing I do is clear all achievements so I can earn them again, as a result even the games I have 1000+ hours on don't have many achievements :steamhappy:

Cheers

If the achievements unlock something then its worth doing it (Payday 2 for example)
AustrAlien2010 Jun 6, 2023 @ 6:16am
On certain online leader-boards, people even use the name of the cheat as their username, next to their impossibly high high-score. And in certain racing-games, their rounds are so fast they have a negative lap-time.

I take a neutral stance on this. Because for all you know those people may freak out, if you do anything about it.
