Why would a link to Odysee be considered "dangerous"?
I see people link to videos and written reviews all the time in their reviews on Steam. But I link to my full written review posted on Odysee (yes, you can upload articles as well as videos there) and Steam decides my review is potentially dangerous and must be hidden.

What's the agenda, Steam? Why are we suppressing alt tech? If that's not the reason, then please go on and explain it to me, because it makes no sense unless you are being shills for Google and the rest of the censorious jerks in the valley.

just did a quick google...

could it be this...

Unlike YouTube there are no moderators, and no safety filters for younger viewers – and the content remains on the blockchain permanently.

And that's "dangerous". I see, so they are shills then. If you are correct.

If you don't understand, you never will. Why waste my time explaining to someone that can't understand anyway? Unless you mean what I've given to Steam in the past? In which case, what is done is done, but going forward things can change.

I mean, Steam is all about safety and respect, that's why they have a jester reward, right? Sure, that's it.

People can download stuff that is illegal in many countries aka most countries outside the USA. Steam is an international service.

You can look at the rules for some hints as to why Valve would want to distance themselves from the site (cherry picked from the Steam rules):
  • Discrimination
  • Encouraging or facilitating real-world violence
  • Exploitation of minors
  • Doxing or posting personal information of other users
  • Encouraging or engaging in piracy or theft

What does that have to do with Steam removing links to Odysee?

Based on that list, they shouldn't allow YouTube links either.

The usual strawman, where that stuff will get you Community Guidelines and/or Copyright strikes where on the "Sea" as people evading Reddit rules on prohibited transactions calls it looks the other way.

It isn't a strawman. That stuff happens on YouTube as well. I'm only applying the logic you set out.

What's kinda funny, the rules you highlighted have nothing to do with links on the forums. Those apply to user behavior and interactions.

And YouTube takes down such content when notified or their AI catches it.

Uh, not always.
but the point is... Youtube does have moderation and a code of conduct..

You mean Google would lie about a direct competitor to their stranglehold on online video hosting? What a shock.

Odysee was acquired by Google on Feb 8, 2015 .
