Why do people set their profiles public but their games/inventory private?

I found C418s steam account, and a couple of other famous figures, and I wonder why so many famous youtubers/people keep their games and inventory private?

Does it help you against hacking or something? or is it just down to preference?

Same reason why people do post selfies online but not usually when they're taking a poop.

Because they think their inventories is none of your business.

Also bots scanning inventories hunting for prey or to nag people to trade them their items is a thing and it's annoying. People get bored of the umpteen friend invite to see if you want to sell that item you have in your inventory.

I made my inventory private long time ago, because I didn't need it to be public anymore.
I made my friendlist private because people there didn't have to bear with angry trolls harassing them because I was a mod.
I made my comments friends only because of people trying to find a shortcut to have things moderated through there.
I made my game library private because it's nobody's business what I do play.

People have different reasons to keep different things private.

If people have something "valuable" in it they would probably get a lot more spammed with trade offers then normal users....

With the games it is far more easy to explain..... they don't want people to stalk them if they play outside of their Streams etc.... If they not may have a totally different Account for that.
