Filter library on Linux ready games
Hi all, wondering if anyone knows a way how to filter your library so that a;; games ready for linux will be displayed? Just want to see how many and if it is worth to even try to get to linux.

I looked everywhere but to be honest, (would be me) but I can't find any reference or whatever to see if a game is suited for linux

If you set your game details privacy options to public you can sign in and filter by games in your library.

In my experience the vast majority of games run fine. Multiplayer anti cheat is still a common complaint if you play that sort of thing.

Best advice from Jason. And yes, if it's an MP game - which doesn't use VAC but some other anti-cheat and doesn't natively support Linux - you are most likely screwed. Devs have been dragging their feet on toggling a single switch to make those games available.

On single player you're fine. I haven't had a game not run in ages. Heck, I don't even check anymore.

Importantly, don't depend on Valve's own verification system - it's terribly out of date. It lists a lot of games that work totally fine as "not supported". They really need to do a Round 2 soon.

Edit: Quick note, because this confuses a lot of people, a game doesn't need to have a native version for it to run in Linux. We use a compatibility layer called Proton to run those games - it's developed by Valve. It's not an emulator, so the performance drop is negligible.

You might have issues with older games. I do mean old. For example, Rainbow Six 3 is borderline unplayable. But, if you play mostly recent titles, proton does a very good job nowadays handling those.

How's the performance with Proton GE? Any help there?

There is no way around it. Game stutters no matter what you do. It's one of those games that just wont work right.

That sucks. Future Proton updates might stabilise it, but who knows? It's most likely one of those odd ducks that are always stuck on bronze.

I have another old game like that - for the life of me, I can't remember what it is.

Edit: Saying that, the recent Proton updates did wonders for the older Atelier games. So there's always hope.

There is still Ghost Recon that runs perfectly fine. So at least I got that.

But, SWAT 4 also run like ass so im guessing proton dosent like Unreal 2.

OP- if you want to see only games with *native* Linux support- go to your store settings, and scroll down to near the bottom of the page.
Platform Preferences.
Check Steam OS & Linux.

It's not perfect, but it will narrow down search results and Discovery Queue results a bit so you don't have to go through a bunch of games that don't have native Linux support.

The link jason provided is very good- check that sit out if you want to see Windows games that are supposed to run well on Linux, keeping in mind some distros are better than others when it comes to running games.

I wonder if the game I'm thinking of was using Unreal 2...I just can't remember what it was.

I do have both the original version of the Bioshocks in my library, so I might try those tonight and see if they have issues.
