Why in 2024, Windows 7 will become a Threat to Steam Servers and '' Security '' ? If an hacker get possession of my windows 7 computer, what is the Rist for Steam to be destroyed? lol.. come on guys.. how an '' apparently potato Operating System '' Can be a risk to Steam? at this Stage, Hire an AI to protect your system...

Valve can clearly do a Legacy Steam version, which is locked to the actual version which works on older windows, and cross connect both version to the Main servers? So even Legacy version can still play with friends and remains connected...

Toss away the freaking '' Security '' that no one is able to answere me, what kind of danger we are refering to? we talk of security.. but security of what?

If you want to protect your computer from a virus, you dont go with Windows Defender in hope to protect you lol.. you get a 3rd software like Kaspersky, AVG or other anti virus to protect you..

So again.. Valve have no reason to block olders windows and forcing us to upgrade the entire system, which mean, reinstalling ALL we have. mods, software, options, data... dude, just thinking about it i want to hang lol.

Steam will stop operating on Windows 7 due to upgrades (and loss of support) from the CEF - google's framework - which is used in the steam web helper/content viewing tabs. Failure to patch known and documented security flaws can cause legal liabilities issues and loss of credit card processing contracts for most vendors, not to mention it is just not great practice. By continuing to support, in any way, some out of date fork of the Steam client that uses an equally out of date version of CEF exposes users to security risks - potentially redirects, scraping, man in the middle attacks and more - which in turn may expose Valve to legal risk. Additionally, for such a small portion of the customer base the expense in man hours both to code, maintain and field support inquiries for legacy windows users can hardly be justified. Likely why they haven't backported steam to Windows Vista/ME/XP/98. Windows 10 and 11 are not much worse than 7 in terms of privacy issues, and if your computer cannot support the upgrade there are alternatives like Linux and MacOS.

2. There will be no further Steam support for Windows 7/8 of ANY kind come next year
3. You either update to a newer Windows OS or switch to Linux.
4. Iif you dont want to do that you can either go into eternal offline mode with your current Wiin 7 installation or stop using Steam.

If you're worried about security, you wouldn't be using doze at all. Even the newer versions of doze like 10 and 11 are full of spyware/malware, only difference is it's microsoft sanctioned, not some random indie hacker.

Dozing is great! Don't have to take a full-on nap, dozing for a (short, or not) while is a great way to free one's head from gridlocked thought patterns. You should try!

Why are you talking about a "legacy" steam version when the current one is runnng flawless on w7 ??
It's just easier to do a systém check during update and do not update the current one if the os is w7.. Changing an update script is far more less expensive than building something like "legacy" which mean nothing and everything at the same time .

You still dont get it. Even if you could stay on the current client or get a legacy Win 7 client, IT WOULD NOT HELP YOU.
The global support for Chromium on Windows 7/8 ends at the start of next year.
Meaning all new security updates to the Steam content servers will no longer be compatible with your precious Windows 7 client.
You wont be able to download or update any games and ownership verification will also fail after a while, making your games unplayable.

No form of "legacy" client will change that.

You need to go on with times, it's almost 2024 and human tech is advancing, soon we will land on MARS and colonize it, and use Quantom computers from there to connect to Earth. Simply everything is possible but using Windows 7, that's way too complicated for us to make compatible.

Do not mix different things :
First, the global end of support of chromium for w7 has allready be done ( chromium v115.something is the current one ).
Second , you have no clue on the technology use on the back-end side ( steampipe, http/2,rsa,tsl 1.2...)
Third , nothing will made my game "unplayable" unless the use of some dmr , cryptography change ...and steam update on chromium v99+ and the use of w10+ tech ( ms-api-core.xxxxx.dll ms redist)
