why does a patch update take so long?
I've already downloaded the full patch file and now the patch is being written to the game...3.2GB file (again, already downloaded in full) and it takes 3 hours to apply the patch? Why?

Can be different reasons. Your disk drive is throttling, the anti-virus is scanning and interfering, the patch might be getting applied to lots of files that need to be unpacked, the verification step is going slowly, etc.

That said, 3 hours is quite long. I would look at the first 2 I listed.

Are you sure it's megabytes and not megabits?

It's actually rather bad. Even a cheap HDD would be way faster.
What device did you test? Because those numbers are terrible.

I just checked performance in Task Manager. My laptop has 2 drives and I keep my games on the SSD (/D drive)

Then something is VERY wrong. No SSD, even a cacheless one, should be this slow.

Could you do the following for an initial diagnosis please?
Go to userbenchmark.com download the free and small benchmark tool, let it run and link the test result here?
