Restore ability to move install location
For a while there was an option to just transfer a game's files to another library, but I'm not seeing it anymore. It's one of those convenience features, and apart from technical limitations from eg a particular game storing absolute paths somewhere on its first launch and thus expecting to be in the same location on future launches, seems like it should be doable. As it stands one would have to either generate a backup, or reinstall.

It was useful for storing games on a high capacity slower drive, and transferring them to an SSD when you want to actually play them. Kind of like RAM drive lite.

This ties into my previous threads on modernizing the game backup / archival features.

Huh, maybe it's because I left the beta branch. That was quite a while ago though, a few months at least.

Alright, figured it out. Somehow the other library location was de-registered. I saw the folder and dll still there and assumed everything was the same. Going into the storage manager (not sure if returning to the beta is relevant here) and adding that location again worked.
Note you should check your libraries from Steam-settings-downloads-Steam librariee
I am not in Beta branch but both ways to move install folder are there, from individual properties to download libraries one. Never once it went away, if it did, I might be scared since I also use two disks for my Steam library.
Valve ahve changes something in the handling of librareis and adding new ones.
It used to be as easy as go to Steam-settings-downloads-Steam libraries, Add new library(folder), Browse and then point the to an excising "steamapps" folder (if you had one on another drive you added),and that was it.
Now its more convoluted. Steps are the same up until Browse. You cant add the exciting SteamApps folder directly anymore, instead steam creates a new one for some stupid reason.
What you have to do is delete the new folder, rename the "old" to the new. Stupid as heck.
