WTF？why stop supporting Windows 7？

I have many valid reasons for not wanting to upgrade to Win10.

For example, I have too many applications and games installed, it seems to be over 300~500, and if I were to upgrade to WIN10, there are too many programs that would need to be downloaded and installed, registered and configured again, which is quite a hassle and could take days.

And with my hardware running fine on WIN7 and games, there is no need to upgrade.

I have tried installing WIN10 as a second boot system and trying to use it, but it doesn't seem to fit my hardware, there is a noticeable reduction in performance on the same configuration, and I just play games, I don't need to upgrade for the sake of so-called security.

Forcing an upgrade would be like STEAM interrupting my game service, which is actually a violation of player rights, Keep at least one version for Win7 players that will be available for a long time and will not be upgraded, even if there is only a basic function to launch the game.

when I choose to continue using an outdated system it naturally means I can be held responsible for my choices, such as if the system is hacked or running a ransomware virus.

I don't know why, but there are quite a few people in the comments asking us to upgrade our systems in the name of caring about the security of our systems. Seriously, we don't care if our systems are secure enough, We just want to come home after a busy day and run STEAM to play our favourite games and get a bit of relaxation, that's all.

Maybe I have another reason, not every player is in a developed country, for developing countries it costs more extra money to upgrade computers and hardware (I know some people will say that upgrading win10 is free, but what about hardware? I'm of the conclusion, i'm losing all my old games. It doesn't mean i'm gonna buy a new computer to upgrade, to in effect downgrade to play games some 20 years old. That's delusional.

Problem with the game you linked from a ♥♥♥♥♥ french company is that this bs company made most of it games with some server part like some sort of f2p game ...
Not sur you can even play it nowaday .. Most games from ubisoft should be avoided at all cost.

Maybe he can extend the deadline or something, and end Win 7 at the same time he ends Win 10. I mean i'm just gonna have to rebuy the games at GoG, but they're saying i may still be able to play these non DRM games post Jan.

Cuz windows 7 only supports 4GB of RAM and min sys req is 4 or 6, some games require 8 or 12 now.... Quite literally, supporting win 7 means you cant run alot of games on steam so why support it? Makes perfect sense really.

Here are some more 20+ year old games listing Win2000/XP as requirements, yet all run on Windows10.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein
Secret of Monkey Island
Supreme Commander

Basically, it's up to the developer or publisher to update the system requirements. Not listing a newer OS does not mean they don't work on that newer OS, it just means the devs haven't updated. In many cases because they are no more, or simply haven't tweaked the game files if needed for modern systems. But in those cases the required tweaks are generally the same that would be needed to run in Windows 7.

You're not losing anything and if the games aren't important enough to you to warrant an upgrade, then I fail to see what the problem is.

The thing is, this goes on and on, in a very short period. Xp was just ended a few years ago, now it's 7 and 8, and in 2 years likely 10.

And so, i don't care how Valve wants to crunch these numbers, millions are being left behind that may be playing the older games. Given the millions, it may be worth Mr Newell looking into a Legacy Launcher.
