Developers aren't bands at your local bar.
Many developers will not take unsolicited ideas/requests as it opens them up to a lot of potential legal liabilities down the line.
I was wandering if someone could come up with a 1st/3rd person shooter
that is in a small open world area, with shops to buy things, npc's, &
all that stuff, it's like a smaller version of gta with seasonal changes.
You can get normal clothing, weapons, & items from the shops,
but sometimes you can meet a special npc in that world, such as
an anime looking character on a roof top & if you do a mission for them
you can get a special ability or piece of clothing from them, but these
special npc's do not all have to be on roof tops, they would be scattered
throughout the small world.
The small world could look like gta or be colorful like mario oddysy,
but it would be a world where you go at your own pace, & it has a
story to it that you would follow... You can talk to the npc's you can
buy & furnish houses, decorate your bed rooms, & paint the houses,
& even invite npc's to follow you around. You can even give things to
these npc's.
The special npc's could be anyone from dark horse comics to anime
to american comics to just cartoons like ed edd & eddy, or they could
even be special npc's that don't have an origin status at all, & are
totally made up to avoid copywrite issues.
The shops might hold:
Melee weapons, Guns, Gun Skins, different shirts, dresses, skirts, pants,
shoes, heels, sneakers, body armor, hats, magic spells, or
possibly a hair salon with different hair styles.
Maybe a Store has an Arcade in it, you can play mini-games
Maybe a hospital for health packs. & your energy could refill over time,
& you can use single to two handed weapons / abilities
Abilities you can get from special npc's:
different types of fire balls, various ninjutsu skills,
various kun fu skills, ball & chain, rigid teeth knife,
mirror shards to throw at enemies,
abilities to teleport through pieces of glass objects,
whatever you can think of.
talking to people, going to school, making friends,
walking around town & finding out information
about the npc's you meet, like do they have a
back story? How was their day? Something like
that.
Maybe at some point you venture into a dark
part of the town, & some npc's try to jump you,
& attack you, or there could be areas like a
dojo where you can have combat arenas, I
dunno...
You could make the story like a visual novel,
or possibly like Sims / Simulator sorta story,
or just make it whatever you would like?
If you want to pitch a game idea, get a job with a game development studio.
Because nobody knows a FPS developer on Steam that would take unsolicited vague requests from an anonymous person on the internet. But people might know of games that fit what you're looking for.
I do Game Dev, I just don't make 3D Games yet...
--- I Do Fighting Games At The Moment
And I never said I was going to be pushy over it...
I meerly asked, & that was all.
Also, you realize that just cause we make games,
doesn't mean we make them in every genre, right?
Because nobody knows a FPS developer on Steam that would take unsolicited vague requests from an anonymous person on the internet.
Unsolicited Vague Requests?
I never said I won't pay for it. I would buy the Game.
Yeah, no. That's not what that means. You'd have to pay the development costs (not just buy a copy of the finished game) which, even in the most conservative of estimates, would run you several tens of thousands of US dollars. Then there's the matter of settling who owns the intellectual property, and all the legal fees associated with drawing up contracts.
You also missed what I wrote.
I didn't say i'd pay it, & I didn't say I wouldn't pay it,
I simply said I would buy the game, nothing more.
Tto everyone that reads as "I'd buy a copy of the finished game". You don't "buy" games when you talk about funding the making of them. You "pay the development costs". Are you prepared to pay the development costs and sign a legally binding contract making you fully responsible for those costs, accepting any and all penalties should you not pay them?
I'm not talking about funding the making of a game,
i'm just asking if I bought a game, would someone make it?
They would get their funding on steam when other people also buy it, too.
If no one wants to make a game? No one has to reply,
& no one has to say yes. But plz if your not going to contribute
to making a game I asked, kindly stop replying, because you
aren't helping.
making games is not what this steam discussion forum is about...
its mainly to discuss the daily goings on of steam
and how it does or doesnt operate as a gaming store....
sure its ok to just plonk your thoughts everywhere and anywhere whenever
something strikes a fuse in your mind.... but dont you... think.... there are more dedicated
places to talk about game design and production and ideas and the price of a potato....
but good on you for typing stuff...
You have those assetflippers that could probably make you a game for a couple of thousands of dollars if you just want it for some weird memes or something, especially if you give them all rights to future profits of it.
This is not the place to beg people to make a game you're not even willing to pay the development costs for. And yes, educating you is helping.
and how it does or doesnt operate as a gaming store....
True, you are kind of right.
This is not the place to beg people to make a game you're not even willing to pay the development costs for.
Who is begging?
I asked one question, & I already got my answer like 6 posts
ago, & people keep responding to a dead thread acting as
if I was begging, when the ones begging for attention
seems to be the only ones still here.
