Debateable....
I used to play it a lot, but ran it with the old UI/Music & Effects from the original 1995 game. The modern stuff was... ehh. i agree that's not everyone's tastes, but it's FAR from confusing!
(Well, it might be confusing with the modern UI, i can't even remember what that looks like)
It's a good game if you can get into it, and IIRC it's quite highly modded too, so your bound to be able to add anything with mods if you desired...
