Astroturfed threads asking for ukranian localisations?
Anyone know why these are getting spammed on every game's hub? I'd imagine it's a propaganda thing but I don't see what it achieves

Ukrainian localizations, ideally?

pretty much, trying to leverage the sympathy factor
I also keep seeing a 'disabled Ukranian gamer' asking for better discounts, their post history never shows the previous requests so they're either deleting them when they post a new one or it's multiple accounts doing it.

People have been "astroturfing" for Russian localizations for years, I don't see you calling propaganda on that. That's a telltale sign of populism: you pretend talking about a concept, an annoying thing, while you've picked a specific side in reality.

Pro tip: when you don't bother addressing what you're quoting, merely pretending you're answering, while hammering your point & ignoring the parts that don't fit your narrative, that's another telltale sign of populism. You're not even contradicti g what om saying. You're just repeating what you already said, what I already addressed!

So, wanna go into an actual dialog? I'd like to.

the two points you made in that post were implying the threads aren't astroturfed and saying i'm asking about this in bad faith

there's no point to responding to the latter so i thought i'd just post an example of the former

Yup, populism. Igkre the actual reasoning behind disagreeing, merely focusing on the fact of me disagreeing.
Interesting.
Over the years I have seen waves of threads asking for Chinese localizations, Polish localizations, Korean localizations, Russian localizations, Portuguese (BR) localizations, Turkish localizations, Arabic localizations, Japanese localizations, even French localizations- as well as the more recent asks for Ukrainian localizations.

OP- do you have threads up asking about those "propaganda astroturfing campaigns"?
No?
Why?
Why only this one for Ukrainian localizations?
That ^^^ is a serious question.
Can you explain why only Ukrainian seems to have gotten you all hot and bothered?

i can't say i've noticed any previous patterns of accounts posting dozens of hit-and-run threads on the forums of games they don't own or otherwise post about with template letters that have the unabridged title of the game and the name of the development studio copy-pasted into them

if previous campaigns of this type have happened in the past i'd be curious about those as well, i'm just curious what the motivation behind spamming the threads is and wondering if someone here could illuminate me

Unwilling to accept the reality of international markets and/or too lazy to learn English. Hell, we got people asking why Valve ain't selling Dead Island 2. Do they really think Valve sends interns to buy a bunch of boxes in a store & key in the license keys into Valve's database? Do they think at all? I wouldn't be surprised by someone saying "you just gotta press a button to translate a game into my language, Y U no press dat button".

That doesn't explain your theory of this being astroturfing though. I've no explanation on how astroturfing would play into this and by Ockham's Razor, it isn't.

You seem to be fairly fluent in using the search function to find a list of threads asking for Ukrainian localizations. With that skill set, you should be more than able to do the same for any other language, even ones I did not list.

Since the "bad thing", they don't want to read Russian localization, it's either English or Ukrainian, whatever games support it. Those who don't speak English are at a disadvantage. In the perfect world every major language would be supported but that's not very likely, unless we can get some kind of sophisticated translation AI, better than Google.
