If Steam drop Windows 7 / 8 support, they also drop Linux support. Why? read below!
From Steam Itself:

This change is required as core features in Steam rely on an embedded version of Google Chrome, which no longer functions on older versions of Windows. In addition, future versions of Steam will require Windows feature and security updates only present in Windows 10 and above.

They explicitely says that the future Steam will require Windows 10 features and security update, which Linux can't have. So what Steam will do for that? knowing that there is more Windows 7 users than Linux Users.

If steam can fix their Linux users with Proton, then why not a simple fix for windows 7? lol

Tell me what your windows 10 can do that windows 7 can't!

in 2023, windows 7 is still powerfull and there was no reason for Microsoft to make a windows 10.. why not udating windows 7 for ever? since it was the BEST windows OS.

People dont ask the good questions.. lol. they only want windows 10 and lose their Privacy.

If Steam drop Windows 7 support, they will also drop Linux support and in the future, will drop windows 10 too. This is not a good attitude lol.

Microsoft is doing the same attitude with Dx12, and a LOTS of compagny are now using Vulkan for compatiblity purpose and multiplaform or OS.

So again.. no one can tell me 1 thing windows 10 can do that windows 7 can't in 2023.

Add those line of scripting code to windows 7 and all your windows 10 functionality will work, except you'll be on windows 7 and will keep your freaking privacy.

I won't actually since I'm not overly and irrationally attached to an operating system, and if I ever need to upgrade to a new one then I'll do so. It's not something that would bother me and you definitely won't see me making cry posts about it.

So because you '' Dont care attitude '' we have to do the same as you? damn dude. imagine a world filled with 8.5 billions of YOU! how would be the world...

I mean, you don't *have* to, but it does seem like the smart, logical approach.

Yes, imagine a world filled with logical people that don't have an irrational attachment to an extremely old operating system. How awful. Lol...
I'd also like to point out:

The Amazing Spider-Man and GRID Autosport both run on Windows 11 and you can't even get those games on Steam anymore. I used these two examples because one was released in 2012 and the other in 2014. So, it would be reasonable to say that people were playing these titles on Windows 7 at that time.

Not me as Win10 runs like toaster as i not have drivers for win10 and 10 use WDM drivers that render my hw like running i-386

My last ship port is Win7
No i will not get rid of working PC just for Steam want Win10.
I not have money for building entire new PC
VALVE on other hand have bilions of USD and People so they can make any software they want.

I'm gonna call your statement as bs. Win10 does not run like a toaster on your PC.

You own these two games at least.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/251570/7_Days_to_Die/
https://store.steampowered.com/app/244850/Space_Engineers/

Both have specs that far exceed Win10 specs. Space Engineer lists Win10 as a recommended OS too.

Also what is this about "as I not have drivers for win10" What drivers do you need to install?
You just install Win10 like any other OS.

Space Engineers IS WIn7 game dude
They just update Steam store page.

I can run them on Win7 without problems.
WHAT PARADOX

Release of WIN 8 was 26.10.2012
First release of Space Engineers was 23.10.2013
7 Days 2 Die release 13.12.2013

They released SE Game for Win7 as i am one of First players that got it dude.
Same was for 7D2D
Win7 users was over 90% that year on Steam so stop generating misinformation.

I had Win10 and was running like toaster with forced Windows WDM drivers.

You are just here make fun of other people
As normal person will not MAKE FUN of Problem that others have.

You not have problems then LEAVE
No one is spreading misinformation, you need to read.

I run 7 Days to Die on Windows 11 and it is running fine. You're the one spreading misinformation.

You not liking someone refuting your statements, is your issue, not mine.

Vulkan is a low-level 3D graphics accelerator using a balanced mix of CPU and GPU instructions and optimized for parallel tasking with multiple CPU cores. Many platforms are already using Vulkan, and now the Raspberry Pi is on board too.10. 1. 2022

You are here just to troll man
Game developers are ONLY ones that can say "We no longer support Win7"

Win10 is just "bloated" Win7 man as i can run most of Win10 games.
Today you have Vulkan API so you can play WIn10 games even on potato named Rasberry PI 4
You're avoiding the statements. I use Windows 11 and the game runs fine The three other people that I play with run Windows 10 and the game runs fine.

So the game running crappy for you on Windows 10 means that it's something on your PC and not the OS.

Read the requirements of 7 Days to Die it says 7 or higher notice the or higher part?

And you also haven't read the SSA which you agreed to when you created the account. It states that system requirements may change over time. So yes Valve does have a say in system requirements.

This is never been about oh I can't run my games on Windows 10 or 11 it's the fact that none of you want to upgrade.

Also, disagreeing with you is not trolling.
theres ZERO reason why people cant upgrade

you have options

1. win10 is free
2. win11 is free
3. linux mint is free
4. ubuntu cinnamon is free
if your hardware cant run win10 or 11 then slap linux mint on it and 95% of your library will run whether native on linux or thru steam proton, 95% of your library is better then 0% library if YOU REFUSE TO SWITCH from win7

YES this is how Trolls work.
You can send me your PC if you want bud

I will not get rid of working PC just because some bored child tell me to.
You can upgrade, you just choose not to. It's not my responsibility or obligation to support your PC hobby. If you can't afford upgrades, that's on you.

Upgrading is a big part of PC gaming. Do you know how many OS's I've had? Four.

Do you know how many PCs I've had? Five.

RED BAR is NOT my problem
My games work fast on Win7 and without problems.
I am long term Steam suporter and customer that not deserve to be punished just for incopentance of multi billion company named VALVe to replace 3rd party feature of Steam that has NOTHING to do with basic features as running and updating games.

They have people and money to develop any "software" they want.

Not my problem.
Bored child? Lol I've been a PC gaming since 2001. My Steam account is 19 years old meaning I joined Steam the day at launched. I'm 50 years old.

He didn't say anything insulting, he's actually been very informative and polite all things considered, you just seem to have an illogical aversion to the facts and the truth.

Nice job on admitting you abuse the report feature when you can't come up with any real rebuttal. This might be a bit of a news flash for you but someone saying something that you don't like isn't grounds for being reported or for receiving moderation action.

It's not your place to tell someone to leave. The forums aren't your property.

They have the resources, but they don't have to do anything, because corporations cannot be forced to spend their money and get their people to develop something if they don't want to do it. That's just how things work.
