It's common sense by now to periodically upgrade your OS if you still want to actively use your PC/laptop, and at this point I'm not sure all those people actually still don't have W10/11.
It is crap, ngl
w10 is a malware
Planned obsolescence
I love old games
Those two got user friendly UI, that's why I stuck to it
I love modern tech
Isn't it monopoly? C'mon guys, there are windows everywhere
I like when it's stood the Test of Time
This NEW software is not compatible with my device version _error_
I will keep using win 7 till I'll decide it is time to change. Valve won't decide for me. Instead of letting people to create opensource legacy client with basic features Valve prefers to dictate which OSes we should use in order to access our games. and by strange "coincidence" when they released this new version of client with red nag about EOS for win 7 they broke Linux client on half of desktop environments so you can't change settings and basically can't install/change your games on Linux. are they pushing Linux users to Deck or to Windows 10 as well? Unless they will fix the client I'll consider it as such.
upgrade anxiety... its a thing...
if your not confident with your computer and how it works
or you have had experiences you dont understand or didnt
research why and how to fix then your going to avoid things
you need to do....
i still have upgrade anxiety or system crash anxiety... but its
more a memory experience that flares up even tho my computer
is running great on win 11.... i even did a bios update... yay
business is business i guess....
the canary beta channel broke my bluetooth and xbox one controller
Win11 has received negative P.R. for the linking of your O.S. and file access to a M.S. Account that you can be banned from, and M,S. has a very colorful history of banning users for no reason from a wide range of services they control and then leaving users no way to appeal the ban. How would you like to wake up and find yourself banned from your own P.C.? Yeah, I wouldn't like that either.
There does appear to be a way to create a local account which does not lock access to your files and O.S. to a M.S. account but I cannot confirm that as I do not have Win11, so whether or not that was, or is still an option, I do not know. But even if it is an option, that is not what people were being told about at it's launch, they were being warned about the MS account being linked to access to your PC and that's pretty scary. Most people do not actually verify to see if something is true or not, they see headlines about it and simply take those headlines as fact, so as soon someone claims it .. boom, damage has been done.
MS is just flat out making really stupid decisions, instead of just providing people with a safe, reliable and usable O.S. which is all anyone really wants. You just want to be able to use your PC and not worry about what kind of price or compromise you're paying to do it.
This is also why there's a surge in interest in Linux, while it's no tidal wave, there are more people paying attention and looking into Linux since compatibility is way up, Linux distros are free and run on a wide range of hardware really well, even really old machines. Thanks to Proton here on STEAM, many games work right out of the box or only require minor tweaking and there are even people who are able to play Diablo 4 on Steam-deck via Proton and if it can run on Proton, it should run on other Linux distros too. Windows isn't your sole answer anymore, Linux is still behind but it's catching up.
