Developer censorship in forums
Why is this allowed?

Developers who release a bugged game missing 50% of expected genre features should not have the ability to restrict discussion.

So you want the Steam game forums to be nothing but an outlet for developer spin? You’re seriously defending that? That’s what you want?

Call out bad working practices and you get banned. Wonderful.
Absolutely, because that's how things work in a Free Society with a Free Market Economy. To do any less is to have authoritarianism.

They have, and should have, every single right to show you the door if they determine you are causing a disturbance in their forum space. Just like I have every single right to show you the door in my brick and mortar Mom and Pop shop down the corner for the same. Just like I have every single right to toss my Sister-in-law's alcoholic brother out of my house when he shows up drunk as usual at our holiday family gathering.

You you provide the link please?
Check their website. I'm not going to do the legwork for you. You can go through the EA support structure as well. All big development studios and publishers have that support desk somewhere. Take the time to look, find it, and use it.

Oh, so leave steam to seek help on Steam. Ok. Makes sense. I’ll ask EA to take. A look. Unfortunately the last time I contacted EA for tech support I received an email reply in completely broken English and couldn’t make head nor tails of it.

I want to talk about developer censorship.
Developers are allowed to moderate their game hub as they want. They're allowed to remove critical posts if they so wish. Whether that's considered censorship is subjective and people won't agree on that anyway.

What's more to talk about?

So you confirm what the OP has been saying. It IS developer censorship. Censorship you believe in and defend. In fact you love it, don’t you. Thanks for being honest.

No business is going to let you come into their space and piss on the floor and yell and scream at the top of their lungs, even IF something is wrong.

You do this in reality you get trespassed. You do this virtually you get banned.

You cannot possibly be so dense as to think otherwise.

Not true actually. Most business allow users to leave unhappy comments in their forums and websites that sell the products. Amazon for example allow me to tell the whole world how bad their products are if I were so inclined. They even allow me to leave a 1 star review.

...and some people who run businesses will beat you with a stick for causing problems in their place, and then call the cops as a cherry on top.

No, you cant say or do whatever you want whenever you want in someone else's space.

You want to bad mouth a game? Start a blog. You have no "right" to do so in their territory.

Amazon is not even close to relevant. Those are reviews. Amazon also messes with reviews, if you didnt realize that. They will also delete rude and over the top reviews...what? Just like Steam? Yeah.

And which business do well? Those that allow users to express themselves freely and be critical of poor products or those that seek to censure legitimate reviews or criticism?

Amazon seems to be doing quite well, would you say? Meanwhile EA is largely hated for their community offences.

And both have money to burn, so they're both doing well (remember, corporations only care about the bottom line, consumers are irrelevant so long as the money keeps flowing). Occam's razor leads to the conclusion that it's not "censorship" that makes EA so hated.

I haven't given my personal stance on it. I don't visit most game hubs because I don't like the way they get moderated, I just acknowledge that on Steam they're allowed to do so.

But thank you for showing that you just assume and post in bad faith. At least you're honest about that.
Censorship is how democracy works nowaday.

Amazon are doing better. And are a more liked company. Facts.
I can phone Amazon and speak to a human being at get immediate quality help.
With EA I can only email them and hope the broken English bot-like reply makes some semblance of sense. In fact, I’m better off asking the community for help. Not on steam of course because I’d be banned for being critical of the game and asking for help.
But you are right in one thing, EA are hated for many more egregious offences than what I’ve mentioned here. They have a poor developer relationship, they have been rated the most hated company in America more than once, and of course they are disliked by many gamers for various egregious practices like this one: https://youtu.be/uI6eAVvvmg0

Deflection. Amazon doesnt care about you either. They also delete reviews and we are not talking about reviews. We are talking about a forum. Any semblance of customer service Amazon have, like not questioning returns and the like is a business model, not morality.

Amazon are doing better financially, yes, but EA is a giant in the gaming industry. It's doing far better than companies that are actually liked. Like I said, the fact that consumers like or dislike a company is meaningless to the company. The bottom line is what matters. If EA thought consumer complaints meant anything, they'd change, but they know the complaints mean nothing - people keep buying their broken products.

You do realize that censorship does exist in a Free Society in many forms, and is in fact necessary for that society thrive? The same for us as individuals.

Grown mature adults practice self-censorship all the time. We practice censorship within our family units. We as a society create rules, laws, and regulations all the time that either enforce censorship or support the ability for an entity to practice it.

A completely 100% free society actually cannot sustain itself. In order to thrive, a free society must put limits on that freedom, which includes censorship.

PS: I know many, many people who would disagree that Amazon is well liked. It's more that they are tolerated because there aren't very many other viable options. Kinda like Microsoft and Windows.

I disagree. It is and should be important to a company that they are liked. People buy more if they like a company or tend to look elsewhere in the future. Amazon know this. Steam knows this. Valve are incredibly customer focused and Gabe is universally beloved.
Valve even feature him in their Steam vids now because they know what a great figurehead and asset he is.

You are dancing like a madman, dancing between the rain drops as you try to twist and turn your way out of the tangled web you’ve created.

No one, NO ONE, is calling for anarchy and a lack of government oversight. Please stick to the topic at hand: developer censure ship on Steam.

You can disagree all you like, but the evidence says otherwise. EA hasn't changed and they make billions. Amazon is hated too, for a variety of reasons, and they make billions. Valve is liked and they make billions. Ergo, it's not the fact that people like/dislike a company that makes it successful.

Amazon may be hated by a relative minority for being successful. EA…. Not so much😉

I guarantee you EA would make more money if they were liked and treated customers fairly. And as a company, they should be aiming to make as much money as possible and not alienating them.
