“ This comment is awaiting analysis by our automated content check system. It will be temporarily hidden until we verify that it does not contain harmful content (e.g. links to websites that attempt to steal information).”
I keep seeing this message when various users post messages here: “ This comment is awaiting analysis by our automated content check system. It will be temporarily hidden until we verify that it does not contain harmful content (e.g. links to websites that attempt to steal information).”

These posts don’t contain links and are (as far as I have seen) totally innocuous. Why does this happen, and only to certain users?

Sometimes I see old threads with posts still stuck in that verification.:lunar2019crylaughingpig:
Sometimes it's a glitch, sometimes it appears to be dodgy links getting caught in the trap.

I once had an abusive post on my profile I couldn't delete because it was stuck in verification.

But then it should say "link removed", I actually have one of those in my profile because someone posted a link to a Discord server. Either that or the post would simply disappear, as it happened with myself when trying to send a link to download a wallpaper.

I was just pointing out that most people misinterprate "free speech."

What are the schools teaching young people?

Not enough to make their understanding of language and debate very valid, according to some of the comments I see about TOS on here. Both players and moderators are affected by a dilution of a fundamentally sound education in critical thinking and focus on 'socially correct ideology'.

“…. Socially-correct ideology?”

What does that term indicate?
gutthans 2023 年 4 月 29 日 上午 7:10
It's been targeting me now since I hopped into a thread between another player and a moderator and stated my opinions about certain disagreements. It's definitely a 'flagging mechanism' that has to be triggered by a mod as near as I can tell.

Like any other mindless automated process that has static parameters...(I wonder if we should refer to it as 'Snowflake' or maybe 'Karen'?)

It isn't mod triggered. I'm pretty sure it happens on every post, but sometimes it takes longer than other times.

I don't know what it indicates to you, as you may still have the privilege of independent and original thought. What I meant is a meta-comment on the education and experience of those imbued with the power to regulate thought and speech as being 1. potentially arbitrary, 2. possibly skewed, 3. out-of-sync with more traditional values.

Correct, every post goes through that system. But sometimes it gets delayed or it hangs, which is also why on server hiccups you see posts stay on it indefinitely.

IF that were true, then wouldn't everyone experience that ? You can easily test that by creating quick posts and looking specifically for that delay, yes? How is is that, then, that I used to be able to get nearly instantaneous replies to a comment until recently? That would suggest, IF you are right, that either there are background things involved that certain people don't know about, or a parameter has changed resulting in more delay and it has risen to a threshold previously not breached.

Sorry, but it happens to everyone, and it has happened for years and years now.
Yes, sometimes it glitches and hangs for hours, or in rare moments, a few days, but usually sending a message to support allows them to clear it quickly.

No one controls or regulates thoughts here, so that's a weird thing to even bring up.

Simply how the anti-spam feature on Steam forums works now.
IT's buggy at times, yes, but I've never had to wait more than 3 minutes for a post to show up.

Okee Dokee! I guess that's good? Although a malfunctioning HAL did try to (destroy/remove/surrender/kill everyone in 2001 A Space Odyssey...

let me introduce you to the wonderfull world of

corporate CENSORSHIP for your own good
I suggest to get your tinfoil hat looser, it's cutting your blood flow.

It's just a system that checks every post for malware/scam/phishing URLs.

Sometimes it gets 'stuck' and someone at Valve needs to hit it with a stick to have it running again. The surge of posts on windows 7 suport drop may have strained it a bit.

Why are you bringing up an old movie? LOL wut.

Yeah, sometimes it just malfunctions.

Not sure why you're actively worried about this.
It simply makes no sense.

It's been active for years.

Tech giants want to cover their asses. They mostly employ algorithms, not real people, to scan for certain words or phrases, unable to see context. But hey, at least your favourite coproration that eats your money and manipulates your behaviour like your a pigeon in a lab can boast about their quarterly earnings, right? So eat the slop, you filthy pig.
Wait, is "pig" one of the bad words? Did i just banned myself
Please, oh mighty overlords, ignore my 20+ years of servitude and don't ban me for a word that, when spelled backwards and then has multiple letters replaced, becomes one of the oh so forbidden words.

makes you wonder why they dont actually make it hidden while they check, instead of showing the comment saying that message.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
