Steam BS
This is BS that we won't be able to play games we ALREADY purchased because YOU want to FORCE us to spend MORE money on newer computers. The games I play ALREADY work on my system and now you want to DENY me access to the games I already PURCHASED?!?!

On a upgrade, all data stays :)

Good luck, ford.
You are more of Customer Service than STEAM customer service. At least you guided me step by step on how to do this "unnecessary BS"
No probs, I am back to a smooth mood. You will be happy with Windows 10, trust me.

So we OWN nothing. We just rented this stuff. Thanks Steam for stealing my money and I have nothing when you decide to bail on us.

Not just Steam, the same thing goes for Xbox, Playstation, Epic, Uplay, EA. You have always be buying a license to play a game.

If you read any of the stuff you are agreeing to you would know this already.

After Microsoft, Steam is just beginning with Chrome/Chromium as a "market leader" platform. What do you think will happen next?

Antivir will be unsupported
Drivers of all kind will be unsupported
Updates, Security, ..
Browsers become unsupported...

You own the license, we've never owned software as that stays the property of the developers. Even back decades ago, you never owned the software, you owned the media it was on, but the software was simply licensed to you.
But we had a CD that we could load into any compatible operating system. We OWNED it. We could STILL play the games on our own OUTDATED computers.

Technically you never owned the game. Yes, you owed the disk it came on, but the software company always owned the game itself.

But i see your point. It's like when we bought movies on DVD. now we just stream it.

Well I'm glad you can afford it. Upgrading hardware and software. I can't. Piss poor way to do business and keep it. Guess it doesnt matter when GREED is your only concern.

You can freely upgrade your Windows 8 machine into Windows 10. It is even explained "AGAIN" here in this thread, besides all other hundreds of threads.

And then Neuro-Sama AI will take over the defense grid and launch nuclear missiles onto every country starting a new age where machines rule over what's left of mankind.

That is also a issue. the affordability of pc's it more difficult these days. hell, a good GPU is over $1,000. not very feasible to upgrade all the time

Pff, I would gladly welcome this event.

Unfortunately since Steam is a Store Front and DRM service, it has to be updated. They are actually required to update for security reasons alone from the EU laws and FTC in the united states since a live service.
I'd rather the games I buy not have DRM. And there are many storefronts that don't rely on installing their own program. So if Steam just wasn't a live service then it wouldn't fall under EU laws and FTC.

Considering I've shown Windows 10 running without Issues on a Q9650 CPU from 2008, and you're on Windows 8.1 so probably a pre built machine for its era, I'm quite confident that Windows 10 would run just fine on your hardware and simply trying to make an excuse.

Now you have my attention. Are you CERTAIN of that fact? If yes, please give me a link on how to do this. If Windows 10 will work with my hardware, I have no complaints on upgrading.

Windows 7 OEM license keys can or should be able to be upgraded to Win 10. Goto the official Windows 10[www.microsoft.com] download page and hit:

Update Now[go.microsoft.com], or

Download Now[go.microsoft.com]

Says windows 7.... works for 8.1 ?

And you are CERTAIN that this will work for my HARDWARE.
