How about removing DRM if you are so inclined to discontinue Win7/8 support?
Seriously, Valve.

You want to force new requirements. And, yeah, it might be security you only think about. That's fine.

But how about a little bit of compromise? Your DRM is THE ONLY thing stopping Win7/8 users from playing the games they bought off Steam starting 2024.

If you take from your users, how about giving up something yourselves?

Valve cannot waive or ignore the IP owners’ rights.

Yep, I'd go for the clean .exe, no DRM.
DRM-free means piracy.. thats why GOG is that "popular"..
this is something that is up to the developer of each game , they're the one that programs their games to require the steam client to be running or not.

not all games can run without the steam clients but many already does.

But they can ignore their customers' preferences, right.

Mate, why is there Denuvo existing if Steam's DRM can cover all the publishers' needs? Because it doesn't work, that why.
No Homer, No DRM means I own the game, no launcher needed to run it. None of those Run Steam First dirty scripts. Don't go full Biden on me now.

Only a very few does. And it's titles like Dwarf Fortress and Conquest of Elysium.
Customers do have Rights, we don't work for Steam. But they'll have you confused as to such.

Look, I don't know what deal M$ threw at Valve, but when it will end, they may as well force you to move onto Steam OS. Because they can.

:earthish: Beyond a few, Valve’s not even cognizant of mine!

But, yes, though they do so at peril, that would be correct.

They have no competitors to create that peril, mate. Just like M$.

And they've already built powerful "alliances" with companies like EA. Kroot and Tau stand as one.

For the Greater Good!

You realize that “user switches to a competitor” is not the only possible peril, eh?

Why? You are or at least used to be on Win 10 in 2017.

I have Win10 on my laptop. My oldie i7-3770 PC which is 12 years old now and outlasted 3 PSU's and 3 GPU (4 because of SLI) is still on Win7 installed, like, 10 years ago and customly tweaked since.

I do use Win10, but I preffer Win7, which is simply superior.

Also, even if you were right, that post is nothing less of shaming. But you are immune to that, I know.
