edit: I recommend that interactive recommender lab test thing, works decently for finding games.
"Gaben Y U No charging me hundreds for this game, Ree I am big sad and angry for not having to pay more then I expected, imagine if they were more expensive yet CHEAPLY MADE, Ree! Ree!"
I think they don’t want anyone to be allowed to make their choice in products for themselves, i. e., it’s a demand for mass-removal.
Valve doesn't set the prices.
To be fair there are tons of games on Steam that literally no one is buying. So what, you ask? Well, they make finding the decent stuff harder and more time consuming.
However, with that said a couple of things I'd say need fairly immediate fixing:
- Discovery Queue.. it's almost always completely irrelevant to me and shows me things I'm not interested in.
- Better game filtering. Often you can set a tag you might be interested in - that's fine - but then it'll include games that are not even related to the main genre that you're looking for, just because some game has it as a tag because one level has it for example.
- Better price filtering, it's all well and cool being able to set a maximum price. But a minimum price would also be useful to set. That'd quickly help you filter out games.
- Better game rating filters - self explanatory.
Even if they fixed only these things, it'd make finding games to buy a lot quicker.
Although the "because you love" filters work well. Pirates are always at the top of my list... couldn't possibly say why that may be
I'd say the first step to fix this mess is removing user generated tags.
Also, I don't know about others but sometimes I like to simply set a price limit and browse the store freely, no filters or anything. And then you have to go through a sea of low quality games until you find something that looks decent.
As for the just browsing... I stopped trying to do that a long time ago.. too much noise. Although I do try to keep an open mind for games and don't usually limit myself to particular genres.
I'm so confused.
Altough i do agree. Maybe steam should classify games better. Like you want to see only games from big studios or big serious games. that should be an option. Apart from that. Who cares?
