Runes Of Magic Lied
Why does steam allow games that straight out lie to their played base? Yesterday Runes Of Magic told players there was a free gift waiting for them in shop. Went there. No gift. This isn't the first time they have straight out lied to players and as usual they will make no attempt at making it right. Why are they allowed to do this to your player base?

Even if they withdrew a free gift, that's their right. Developers can retract anything as they wish ultimately.
If the gift was there for just 5 minutes, it was still not a lie.

Well there's probably more to this story than you're stating. And there's a pretty good chance you missed it.

Like whenever someone claims Steam has lied to them about sale dates because they expected the sale to run until midnight of their timezone. And then they have to have it explained like they're five where they went wrong and everything revolves around PST for Steam.

My guess is it was Sunday, March 19th in their (Runes Of Magic dev) timezone, and you're in a different timezone, so while it might have been 2023/03/19 for you still, it wasn't for the game. IE you missed it.

Yeah, the announcement was made in the 18th(according to Steam) and Op tried to redeem it on the 19th. It said in the announcement it was "today only" which one can assume was the 18th.
Instead of accusing a Developer, you could go to their post & let them know as a few had the issue:

Note, freebies could also have a set of conditions needed to get it, which they could've accidentally left out, or there may be servers hiccups/issues that could've affected the ability to get it. Always post in the Game Hub (forum) for the game if you're having issues with the game, have a suggestion, or wish to discuss it.

You already made a post in there as well

Never assume they're lying or make accusations. If servers went down, they might've had too much traffic which could also explain why a few people couldn't get it. If they have a ticket system on their site or a support section or in-game support - use it.
It’s not valves job to police what happens inside of a game

Well, long ago, they also removed a lot of accounts and servers for no reason.
I used to play this game in 2008.

My advice is: Don't give money to them.

You may have just overread the reason.
Usually on f2p games, if servers get removed/merged it is due to the playercount on them.

If Accounts get deleted then usually due to inactivity (and usually there will be warnings beforehand to "reactivate" the account in time so that it wont get deleted)....or that a publishing partner stopped hosting the game in their region.

Quite surprised that the game is still around, tought they where long gone....
